This is a not-so-disguised attempt to buy votes & it's a clear cut violation of federal law against paying people to register & vote.
We'll be filing a complaint with the Federal Election Commission challenging Musk’s latest denigration of the right to vote freely & fairly.
We have found maladministration in @EU_Commission failure to meet legal deadlines for preparing authorisation decisions concerning dangerous chemicals.
Decisions take 14.5 months on average despite 3-month deadline, with the chemicals remaining in use during the process.

BREAKING The @EU_Commission takes around 14.5 months to decide whether to allow companies to continue using banned chemicals. That's almost five times the legal limit and constitutes maladministration, @EUombudsman confirmed today. Read our press release: https://t.co/76PsgNWUbC

👏 Food businesses can help consumers eat healthier! In one year, the number of ready-made meals with whole grains has more than doubled in 🇳🇱, research by @beuc member @Consumentenbond found. Retailers are leading the way, with Lidl as the frontrunner.

Today at our @EU_EESC Consumers & Environment Category, spokespersons @Thierrylt and Bernardo Hernández Bataller welcomed @moniquegoyens, retiring Director @beuc to debate on the overview of the work carried out by BEUC & outlook
👏 Dear Monique, thank you for the excellent work!
In thanking @moniquegoyens, retiring Director of @beuc, President @smsboland called on Banks and the large digital companies to make #consumer protection as their🔝priority!
Consumers are loosing millions of euros as a result of scams that these companies are failing to prevent!
The #consumer movement, and consumers more generally, have benefitted hugely from @moniquegoyens contribution and her leadership of @beuc. She will be missed.
At the @EU_Competition workshop ‘Protecting competition in a changing world’, Vanessa Turner underlined that the Commission itself has found that competition has weakened in the EU in many markets, which caused prices to rise for consumers. This is bad news.

Sigh. As member of that dialogue I utterly regret that @COPACOGECA goes on business as usual against all scientific evidence that we need more plant based diets. They still don't get it that agriculture is not just about farmers.

This would deserve à major outcry. These ministers care more about the wine economy than abt health of their citizens. Oh wait, at the same time they cut public health budgets!
😳 Ehm what?!
Replace “wine” with “tobacco”or “junk food” in the sentence and the schizophrenic (and cynical) nature of this discussion becomes evident …. So much for #PublicHealth….

Good news that the Commission is looking further into whether Temu complies with the #DSA! This is a follow-up to our complaints from May where we raised many problematic issues on Temu. Consumers deserve better.

Temu must provide the requested information by 21 October 2024. @EU_Commission will then assess Temu’s replies, and determine the next steps.
This could entail the opening of a formal investigation under the Digital Services Act.
