Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak with constituents about the importance of diverse voices in higher ed. HB 261 would eliminate DEI departments within publicly funded universities. This would not only be a huge step backward but would continue to perpetuate hate and fear.

Can you see how equity in classrooms fulfills individual and societal needs to achieve true freedom and equality as a whole? If you hate on equity, you don’t really want equality, because the current system still benefits you more. ie not equal. I see your true colors.

A new record. The Utah legislature made me cry (sad and angry tears) on Day 2 at their efforts to strip DEI from Utah universities, K-12 & Utah's governmental entities. They do it with nice words about equality, opportunity & getting rid of racism. But the bill doesn't do that.

1. Alert: Utah could become the second state to mandate jail for trans adults in bathrooms of their gender identity.

It could affect all trans travelers traveling through Salt Lake City Airport, as well as cis travelers mistaken for being trans.

anti-trans bill passes the House in a landslide. can't imagine the senate or governor have the insight or knowledge to stop it from becoming law, so as with indiana we'll be relying on the courts to strike down this anti-constitutional act of discrimination.
