All I wanted was to lose myself in the inanity of football. But no, heaven forbid! Between Rothbardian vs. Stalinist catfights over slot machine floats, AI cultists' doom & gloom triggering a natsec brouhaha, and the tiresome scheduled war drums, it was decreed that I would not.
@JohnCleese They became economists because they couldn't cut it as real scientists. They could still do some calculus, though, so economics was the path towards the respectability they craved all their lives.
@WIRED Yeah, good luck with that: design, train, operate, manage, and any other function/input can be siloed into a complex web of corporations, subcontractors, and partnerships, and knowing where the bullet casing is buried is algorithmically almost impossible. Freakin' judges
@WIRED Instead of giving an ad-hoc legal personality to the bloody thing. Quicker redress in court, undiluted pool for monetary compensation, and no complex web of datasets, partnerships, and convoluted structure charts to pinpoint the culprit.
@AndrewOrlowski Itโs frighteningly smart. โOur cannon is so powerful we canโt sell it. But hereโs our handgun for just $29.99/month!โ
P.s. Bonus: they overdo it and get nationalized.
To get a sense of how Americans view the World Cup, I asked a few friends in DC if they were watching the game tonight. None of them had any clue what I was talking about. The host nation's first match, and no one knows it's happening...
I donโt know if Spartan living with a heavy monastic element added into the mix is the path to anything at all but, heavens above, it cleared up the โlist of friendsโ like an elevator flatulence.
Good times.
