Film #22 of the October horror marathon:
Evil Dead Rise (2023)

A decent film and in keeping with the franchise. I love the setting for this one which gives a whole new dynamic to the film. Looking forward to watching Evil Dead Burn next.

Film #21 of the October horror marathon:
Evil Dead (2013) [Unrated Cut]

A great remake that stayed true to the original but added more terror and suspense with a great ending. The 4K picture is stunning and the sound on this one was amazing 🌲🪚

Film #20 of the October horror marathon: Army of Darkness (1992) 🛡️🪚

This took the slapstick horror to another level, but good to see the end to the Sam Raimi Evil Dead trilogy. Also, great to see how all it ties in with the Ash vs Evil Dead show.

Film #19 of the October horror marathon: Evil Dead II (1987) 🪚👹

Following on from the original, we start to see some of that perfect manic horror-comedy. A great performance by @GroovyBruce anchors the chaos nicely for the “Army of Darkness”

Film #18 of the October horror marathon: The Evil Dead (1981) 🪚🏚️

The Evil Dead is great and way more serious than I was expecting given what I have seen in Ash vs Evil Dead. It’s a raw, intense horror with incredible camera work.

Film #17 of the October horror marathon: The Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Some punk-rock zombie action that gave us the iconic "BRAINS!" line. Plus, that naked dance graveyard scene 🫣 is just peak '80s cult cinema. Very silly but good.

Film #16 of the October horror marathon: Dawn of the Dead (1978) 🛒🧟‍♂️

Finally got around to watching the original. For its time, this was clearly genre-defining, laying down the blueprint for every piece of zombie media that followed.

Although not as good as The Exorcist, I do think this was a decent film and not as bad as some would have you believe. Definitely worth a watch. 📿👭

Film #13 of the October horror marathon: Poltergeist (1982)

For me this captures the hallmarks of Steven Spielberg’s suburban warmth with horror elements. Some great practical effects that hold up well and look great in 4K 📺🧒

Film #10 of the October horror marathon: The Monster Squad (1987)

Not as good as The Goonies, but The Monster Squad still offers nostalgia for anybody who grew up during that era. Amazing Stan Winston monster effects and pure '80s charm! 🐺🧛‍♂️

Film #9 of the October horror marathon:
The Witch (2015)

Robert Eggers' debut was stunning. The Witch has authentic 17th-century historical detail, intense paranoia, and pure, suffocating dread. Anya Taylor-Joy is incredible. 🐐🌲
