@EmmettProulx It's a bit annoying as these sort of projects don't usually come with a public comment opportunity, except maybe for the local residents. That's generally just fine but limits the opportunity to advocate for this sort of change.
@EmmettProulx I agree with this - Ossington is closer to 1.8 than 2m so the ramp feels like it infringes more. Grove is at least 2m, feels like a missed opportunity.
@EmmettProulx I wondered about that. The reconstruction in the south end of the Glebe (Wilton/Monk etc.) is the same, so I wasn't sure if standards had slipped back to the old style.
@EmmettProulx Any idea why other projects have gone back to the roller coaster sidewalks instead of "Toronto style"? Grove reconstruction has beautiful, wide sidewalks filled with annoying ramps, compared to Ossington one block over done a few years back.
@alwaysadetour @ottawacity@OC_Transpo I wasn't expecting it so soon either, thought it would be tied to the bridge cycle lanes and construction further south. Peak direction on Bank moves well (transit+cars) because of no parking. Reverse peak direction crawls because one left turn clogs it up.
Cool to see that @ottawacity implemented the Bank Street off-peak @OC_Transpo lane in Old Ottawa South this week. I took the bus through this stretch often as a student and it was always painful.
When I was a summer student with @OC_Transpo back in 2019 I worked on the beginnings of this project, including data analysis showing how bad the reverse peak trip times were. I now happen to live right around the corner and will get to see the result in action.
