Congrats to former PhD student Dr. Alfred Limbere on his new publication in Education Sciences with Drs. DiNapoli & Greenstein examining preservice teachers’ noticing of students’ reasoning about rate of change. Alfred is now teaching at Drake University. Link in comments!

Doctoral students John O’Meara, Tim Aberle, and Shanna Anderson, with Drs. Mika Munakata and Monica Taylor, presented two papers on teacher leadership at AERA in Los Angeles. Great work representing Montclair!

In Dr. Steven Greenstein’s Choreomathematics course, doctoral students explore polar graphing through movement, tools, and inquiry. A highlight: learning with NYC subway dancer @shakeyyjones, including an embodied take on r = sin(2θ).

Montclair Math Club hosted its first Integration Bee on 3/18, inspired by MIT. Students competed through 4 rigorous rounds for prizes, including laptops for the top 3.

Student Spotlight: Hailee Lowry (el-ed) shared, “I honestly used to be so bad at math so it made me hate it.” But over time in her MTHM302 class, she began to feel a new sense of confidence, "It was the best I have felt about math in a long time!” Keep up that excitement Hailee!

Doctoral student Amanda Provost and her advisor Dr. Nicole Panorkou have published a new article in Research in Integrated STEM Education foregrounding the role of mathematics in interdisciplinary STEM. We are so proud of you Amanda!
