For the last 9 months we’ve had one mission: Collect 10,000 raw Pokémon cards valued at $1+, log on @RareCandy, preserve in @goat_armor, secure in secret vault.
This will be a sizable investment that we plan on holding until the 50th anniversary. Perfectly curated. Perfectly preserved. Perfectly secured.
eBay, Facebook Marketplace, regional TCG/collectible shops, rummage sales…We’ve strategically been acquiring.
Should we start a TikTok series hunting down the remaining 3,734 cards?
#pokemon #10000cards challenge.
We visited a music and manga resale store named Fleeting Glimpse in Grafton, WI today, which quickly turned into Pokémon market research!
First, this is not a TCG store. They mostly sell vinyl records and CDs. That said, they had a decent manga selection, and a case of high end Pokémon singles at the register. No sealed product, no bulk, but if you’re at The TCG Landing in Grafton anyway this place is worth a stop. Honestly, the guy had a bunch of singles I’ve never seen before, and many were out of my price range. That said, he was more than fair on prices, and I’ll be going back again.
In total, we spent $57.26 on 5 cards. All 5 cards (pictured) were added to our #10000cards collection. All 5 of were protected in @goat_armor. All were logged on @RareCandy for a value of $72.95. The Bronzong @yukayuka card is one we’re missing from our Master Collection!

Today’s Pokémon market research brought us to The TCG Landing-Grafton, WI (formally located in Cedarburg, WI).
This is the closest TCG shop to our home, so we come here a lot on release day. The owner is a good man, and has curated a family friendly atmosphere. He has always been welcoming and more than generous.
They have a more than decent selection of sealed product at fair prices. Good space for playing the TCG game. There are only two binders of raw singles to go through, but it looks like they’re starting to build up a wall of higher end singles. Unfortunately no general bulk, which is a real bummer for us. Their $1 card wall is a lot of fun though, and you can usually find a few good deals.
In total, we spent $4.22 on 3 cards. All 3 cards (pictured) were added to our #10000cards collection. 3 of them were protected in @goat_armor. All were logged on @RareCandy for a value of $7.82. The @asiru3dozen card was a beautiful addition. We also got free frozen custard from @culvers!

Are you prepared for trouble? Mischievous antics and nefarious cards are both abound as Team Rocket makes their entrance 🚀
The latest #PokemonTCGPocket expansion, #TeamRocketsAmbition, is now available!
I don’t know if Game Universe-Mequon saw our initial Pokémon market research, but wow did they change things up.
The $1-$10 cards were organized in a new box, with a bunch of new additions and great deals. They also reorganized their high end singles.
In total, we spent $35 on 30 cards. 22 of the cards (pictured) were added to our #10000cards collection. 10 of them were protected in @goat_armor. 3 were grails @ExeggcuteEmpire could never turn down. All were logged on @RareCandy for a value of $67.05.

Today’s Pokémon market research brought us to Game Universe - Mequon.
They have the sealed product you come to expect, a decent selection of singles, $1, $1-$5 and $6-12 boxes of singles, minimal bulk, and a nice playing section.
We picked up 29 cards from the $1-$12 singles boxes, including 2 @yukayuka we don’t have in our collection.
In general, the prices seem a bit high. The nicer cards we picked up seemed to be $1-$3 overpriced. The bulk was $.35/card, and not the best selection. In general, we like to see bulk at $.25/card, tops. 5/$1 is the best we usually see.
On a final note, they are always very nice to our son, and today gave him a league pack.

Just went to a card show in my home town-
First vendor table had a bulk bin, $10 a stack (handful size)..
I spend about an hour going through the box, and finish with my stack.
Stupidly I assume he’s gonna look at the stack and give me a number, NOPE. He takes the stack and looks through the cards one by one, to make sure there are no “big hitters”…
He ends up finding some mcdonalds promos I had found.. I didn’t even know they were expensive, im just shopping for my friends who are getting married in a couple weeks. One of them was the totodile from 2016- currently listed $35 damaged..
He continues on to blame his child for putting the wrong stack of cards in the bulk bin.. and says he can’t sell the few he found to be more expensive in the $10/stack.
Genuinely blew my mind… how are you gonna have a bulk bin- the first person to rummage through it finds some decent stuff unknowingly, and you take it back and don’t honor it??? I do the work to pick through the cards just for you to take back whats worth something?
Idk that shit pmo so bad.
