Ensuring soil is always under shade is essential for soil health and soil organisms to thrive. Congratulations to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for taking the initiative to transfer academic knowhow to our farmers. Such collaborations are important if we have to improve farmers’ economic situation and revitalize the soil. -Sg #SaveSoil
Turmeric, the Golden Spice, gets the recognition it deserves – now imagine transforming farmers' lives with the "Green Gold" of timber! 🌿📷 With tree-based agriculture boosting revenues by 300-800%, it's time to rethink farming for both prosperity and sustainability.

The relationship between humans and the soil is as old as civilization itself.
From the first farmers who dug their hands into rich earth to the millions of growers who feed our world today, soil has always been our greatest ally. Yet today, we're losing this precious life-making material at an alarming rate. The United Nations warns that we may have only about 60 years of harvests left before the cultivable soil in the world becomes infertile.
Together, we can change this story. Join the global movement to #SaveSoil and help ensure food security for future generations.
Did you know?
Bamboo groves maintain soil stability even in challenging terrains, demonstrating how vegetation and soil health are inseparable partners in nature's design. These remarkable plants enhance soil organic matter, creating thriving ecosystems that support rich biodiversity.
While we often look for complex solutions to save our soil, bamboo shows us nature's incredible engineering. By employing such natural solutions, we can completely transform our soil with minimal investment.

In the global discussions and talks about environmental conservation and climate change, soil has been largely ignored.
What we don't realize is that every step we take toward soil regeneration brings us closer to a thriving planet. By improving soil organic matter to a minimum of 3-6% (depending on regional factors), we can address all major ecological problems in the world. It's time we give soil the attention it deserves.
Dhals, groundnuts and other vegetarian sources of protein that people have eaten in India for centuries provide nutrients to people and also nourish the soil. #savesoil

Healthy Soil = Water Security
Degraded lands are often less able to hold onto water, which can worsen flooding. Soil is the largest water soak on the planet, but it is now losing its capacity to hold water because it lacks organic matter.
When it rains on degraded soil, water runs off as flood and later leads to drought. Over two billion people live in countries where water supply is inadequate. By 2040, roughly 1 in 4 children worldwide will be living in areas of extremely high water stress. Raising soil organic matter to a minimum of 3-6% (depending on regional conditions) is vital to address water scarcity in a meaningful manner. The time for action is now.

"Vanakkam (Greetings)! I’m Senthilkumar, a farmer from Erode, Tamil Nadu. For the past 15 years, I’ve been transforming my 13-acre farm with guidance from the Save Soil Movement. 🌱💚
Combining tree-based agriculture with intercropping has been a game-changer. My land thrives with banana, turmeric, pepper, and even teak and sandalwood trees. The fallen leaves enrich the soil, reducing water needs and boosting crop quality – my turmeric’s curcumin content more than doubled, from 2% to 4.27%!

Wetlands are more than just swamps!
Wetlands, nature's water purifiers, work hand in hand with healthy soil to sustain life. When soil is rich in organic matter, it helps wetlands thrive, creating a cycle that benefits all. The connection is simple yet profound: wetlands filter water, enrich soil, and support biodiversity. Through conscious agricultural practices, we can preserve these vital ecosystems while maintaining fertile soil for food production.
When we save soil, we save wetlands, and when we save wetlands, we revitalize our soil.

One alternative to the agricultural status quo is regenerative agriculture. The Farmer Producer Organizations as part of Conscious Planet implement this in a way that benefits farmers financially. #SaveSoi
Why does our soil need saving?
In the last century, tremendous technological and industrial advancements have been made. Due to this technology, farming has been conducted in a wanton and destructive way to such a point that the UN is predicting we have less than 60 years of soil left.
It is up to us, the people, to stand up and speak for the soil. Governments across the world must take up policies that protect and regenerate our soil, but this will only happen if all of us work together to make our voices heard.
Let us make it happen!

This is a horrible tragedy that many are facing. I hope more thought is put into restoring soils. When soil has adequate organic matter, the. It holds more moisture and it prevents forest fires from getting too large to manage. #savesoil
Painful to see the loss of life and the scale of devastation wrought by the wildfires in LA County. Though this is a very difficult time for the community, we know this is not a community that is easily beaten. Our greatest challenges also offer us the greatest opportunities to build back stronger. We stand in solidarity with you as you begin the process of recovering & rebuilding yourselves. Much Love and Blessings. -Sg
