Even on a good post, only about 6% of people who view my work put in the negligible effort of giving me a like/heart and far fewer than that comment.
They know it boosts me in the algorithm, they know it helps me out, but still, the VAST majority of people always take but never give.
This is a microcosm of what’s wrong with our society at large. So much taking and so little giving. Some guys even wear it as a badge of honor that they take and take and take from creators but would “never pay.” Because it’s macho to be selfish and greedy or something? 🙄
I’m an always “liker.” If I see your post and I get something out of it and I respect you, I’m giving you engagement. I support the creators whose work adds happiness or thoughtfulness or depth to my life.
Social media extracts endless free labor from us. We provide content to keep people interested in their platform and they give us nothing.
The least we can do as working class people is give each other the MINIMAL effort of a like or repost if we appreciate someone’s effort. ❤️
