"Quebec should separate. They would be better off. Alberta and Saskatchewan should separate too."
This is basically how all liberals react as their society crashes around them. They ignore it and don't even consider reversing course.
Open borders, illiterate economic policy or insane energy policy ... liberals will never admit their ideas just suck.
Quebec cleaned house. Alberta is next on the calendar. Ottawa is still arguing with Trump.
The CAQ won 90 seats in 2022. Monday night it won zero. The Parti Québécois took 59 and a minority, on 28 percent of the vote. Éric Duhaime's Conservatives picked up 19. A party that went from a government to not enough members for a meeting. The PQ ran on identity, 35,000 permanent residents a year, and temporary immigration cut in half. That is a centre-left party talking about how many people the province can actually hold.
Oct 19, Alberta votes on whether to start the process toward a separation referendum. Not a flag change the next morning. Danielle Smith says she will vote to stay. A CBC poll had 72 percent staying and 23 percent for secession. The map is the joke. The calendar is not.
None of this started with a tweet from Washington. Trump gives people a reason to be angry. Carney answers, and the answer gets graded like a campaign ad. Take Trump out of the picture and ask the boring questions. Housing. A doctor. The grocery bill. Two provinces having a serious talk about whether they are staying. Beer goggles for the guy who talks back to Trump are not a report card.
Quebec and Alberta are not the same story. Both of them are a reminder that a flag in the reply does not mean the country under it is working. Trump will be gone. The decisions made while he was the whole argument will still be here.
