'NO BETTER GROUP': A retired Army special operations veteran with 20 years of service and 12 combat deployments is pushing Congress to extend nationwide concealed carry rights to qualified former special operators — the same privileges already enjoyed by retired law enforcement under federal law.

Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., introduced the Special Operations Forces Concealed Carry Act last week, with a companion House bill from Rep. Pat Harrigan, R-N.C. The legislation would let qualified former operators carry concealed across state lines without navigating the patchwork of state gun laws that currently trips up armed citizens traveling between jurisdictions.

"These are proven men and women — they're specially selected, uniquely trained," said Gavin Glasenapp, training operations manager at Delta Defense for the U.S. Concealed Carry Association.
