@bigwormjerm He seems to be more polished than anyone at this stage so far. We'll likely see him a little in Seattle this year even if it's a September bullpen call up
Comparing Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan to past Mariners pitching prospect numbers at AA, these guys are impressive! Kade especially is allowing far less contact than any of our starters did at that point. Sloan easily the best GB% while his K-BB is only beat by Woo and Kade.
Note: what I show as whiff% is really a swinging strike rate with number of pitches as the denominator. This is different from Savant's whiff rate which uses swings as denominator. Small nuance but still relevant
@JimmyJoe_Meeker Keep eye on Jackson Steensma. He was putting up insane numbers in A ball before we got hurt at beginning of May. Not sure what the injury is or when he'll be back
Mariner Prospects pitching today:
AA Kade Anderson (best pitcher in MiLB)
A+ Colton Shaw (top 5 pitcher in NW League)
A Mason Peters (best pitcher in Cal League)
Kade and Mason are elite but don't sleep on Shaw who is having a really solid season. 2025 7th round pick.
@dawg206 Fangraphs has it pretty deep down the page under Plate Discipline. What I'm calling Whiff is actually their swinging strike% which is a little different bc it's denominator is total pitches not swings. They don't have chase until AAA unfortunately tho
@dawg206 I'm guessing so too. Whiff is about where Cjintje was at last year in Everett. Decent but not popping off the page. Hope he turns that up a bit and makes a name for himself
Potential RHH deadline targets for the Mariners:
(wRC+ vs LHP)
Spencer Steer UTIL (213)
Heliot Ramos OF (146)
Matt Vierling OF/3B (139) πΈ
Taylor Ward OF (135)
@DarrenTrain@dawg206 I thought so too, but then Luke's numbers vs Laz' can't make sense. How can he have a lower contact rate while having a lower whiff rate? I'll double check that I didn't fat finger a number

@dawg206 Yea it's great to be selective and his BBRate is bananas, but especially at this level he ought to do a little more head hunting. Luis Castillo swings more than him π
