It’s painful to think that almost every town and city in South Africa once had a functioning train station connected to a national rail network. People could live in one town and work in another because affordable transport made it possible.

Today, many of those stations stand abandoned, vandalised and dilapidated. Rail lines that once connected communities and drove economic growth have been left to decay.
