"Welcome clarity in a confusing world!"
That was the feedback from one participant at the Centre for Christian Living's latest workshop: Left Right Out: The Strange Position of the Political Christian.
Tony Payne led over 100 people through a workshop exploring what the Bible teaches about government, justice, political identity and public life, helping Christians think carefully about faithful engagement in the political sphere.
A podcast series will be soon released on CCL's channel expounding on this evening. In the meantime, enjoy the recap of the evening: https://t.co/3MJKeV9RXm.
Last week, the whole Moore College community, faculty, staff, students and families gathered for Community Chapel.
We were introduced to our new Head of Advancement, Paul Nettlebeck, who read the Scriptures and shared about a time he learned to rely on God’s provision. Sally Swan led us in prayer and reflected on a season when she felt utterly dependent on God, recalling the confidence of knowing his care even when the path ahead was unclear - We can’t see right now, but we know the truth of God’s goodness.
Jack Day then encouraged us from 1 Kings 17, reminding us that idols promise much but can never deliver what only God can provide. While we often look elsewhere for security, acceptance and life, God calls us to trust him alone. Through Christ, we have the assurance of an unshakable kingdom, a family that welcomes us, and the promise of eternal life.
These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our fellowship, encourage one another, and be reminded of God’s faithfulness as we partner together in the work of the gospel.

In a world marked by uncertainty, prayer reminds us that God remains sovereign, faithful and unchanging. As Hannah declared in 1 Samuel 2, “there is no Rock like our God.”
At Moore College, we continue to give thanks for God’s faithfulness as men and women equipped for a lifetime of gospel ministry. We are grateful for the many ways God is at work through our students, faculty, staff and graduates, and we depend on him for all that lies ahead.
Our latest Winter Prayer Bulletin contains praise and prayer points for the next three months, helping you pray for the life of the College and the churches and ministries our students serve in.
Staying true to the ministry of the gospel (Galatians 1) with Philip Kern.
In this episode of Moore in the Word, from a chapel service held on Tuesday 21 April 2026, Philip Kern, Head of the New Testament Department at Moore Theological College, speaks on Galatians 1 and Paul’s plea to the Galatians not to turn away from the gospel.
Philip reminds us that freedom is never absolute. We are freed from something for something—that is, life in the Spirit and the risen Son. For Christians, our existence is now defined by the cross, the Spirit and freedom. Yet the world, the flesh and slavery continually threaten to pull us back again. Do we really believe that Jesus has defeated death?

In the latest episode of the Moore in the Word podcast, Simon Flinders speaks from the first plenary session of the 2026 Priscilla & Aquila Centre annual conference on “Discipleship as new love: Jesus’ invitation to radically rethink ‘family’”.
In a culture where family is often treated as the ultimate source of identity and fulfilment, Jesus offers a radically different vision. Through Christ, we are welcomed into God’s family—and that gift reshapes every other relationship and loyalty.

Have you ever wrestled with the question, “Is it ever okay to lie?” It’s not long before someone points to the Bible—especially the Old Testament—where people seem to lie, get away with it, and are even commended for it. Think of the Hebrew midwives in Exodus 1:15–21, or Jehu’s deception in 2 Kings 10.
So what do we make of these passages? What do they teach us about truth, deception and the Christian life?
In this episode of the Centre for Christian Living podcast, Tony Payne speaks with Moore College Old Testament Lecturer Jack Day about some of the Bible’s most challenging examples of lying and what Christians today should make of them.

Last week in Chapel, Bishop Mark Calder joined the Moore College community for a conversation with Paul Williamson before preaching from Romans 5:1–11 on “Peace with God” as part of the Romans Series: God’s Gospel: The Big Picture in Romans. Reflecting on what it means that “since we have been justified” through Christ, he encouraged students and staff with the peace, grace, hope and assurance found in the gospel of Jesus Christ alone.
Over morning tea students were able to connect with Mark about ministry opportunities in the Bathurst Diocese where there is a great need for leaders to regularly open God's word and care for God's people in the local communities.
The inefficiency of gospel ministry (Acts 10:1–22) with Philip Kern.
On the latest episode of Moore in the Word, from a chapel service held on Tuesday 14 April 2026, Philip Kern, Head of the New Testament Department at Moore Theological College, speaks on Acts 10:1–22: Cornelius’ vision at Caesarea and Peter’s vision at Joppa.
Philip reminds us that, even though it might look inefficient to us, God is in the business of sending people to proclaim the gospel, for sending precedes hearing and hearing precedes believing. He also shows us that God’s sovereign hand defines the church and includes even those we would think unlikely, because Jesus is Lord of all, not Lord of some.

Thank you for helping to shape men and women for a lifetime of ministry.
One of the distinctive ways this happens at College is through the practical ministry opportunities students undertake. Alongside their theological studies, students are serving week by week — teaching the Bible, caring for people, leading ministries, and engaging in real gospel work. These experiences are vital in shaping them for the realities of ministry beyond Moore.
Your gift to the Autumn Appeal contributes to the shaping for students for lifelong ministry and changing lives for eternity. We thank God for his many blessings.

Strong gospel partnerships don’t just support ministry—they multiply it.
In this Moore Matters article, Rod Chiswell reflects on the long-standing partnership between Moore College and the Armidale Diocese—raising up workers for gospel-poor regions across north-west New South Wales.
From mission teams that inspire students toward regional ministry, to the locally delivered Moore Diploma equipping lay people for service, this partnership is helping grow a new generation of faithful gospel workers.
A clear vision: to see men and women trained, equipped, and sent into the Lord’s harvest—across Australia and beyond.
