A lifelong Moore County resident, Moore County Schools graduate, and dedicated educator, Mrs. Purvis has devoted nearly 32 years to serving the students, staff, families, and communities of Moore County Schools. Throughout her career, she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, interim superintendent, and now superintendent.
Her appointment represents a remarkable full-circle journey. From attending Robbins Elementary School and graduating from North Moore High School to leading the very district that helped shape her life, Mrs. Purvis has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public education and the Moore County community.
We are excited about the future of Moore County Schools under her leadership and grateful for her continued dedication to our district.

Congratulations to Pinecrest HS senior Reece Carlson and North Moore HS senior Emma Morgan, recipients of the 2026 Frick Technology Achievement Awards. Their accomplishments, leadership, and commitment to excellence exemplify the bright future of STEM education.
We congratulate the West Pine MS robotics team, โZero Sugar Cherry Dr Pepper 2,โ for earning first place in the district's Middle School Robotics Competition by demonstrating exceptional programming, engineering, and problem-solving skills.
Additionally, we are proud to recognize Kathy Slate of The Community Learning Center at Pinckney as the 2026 STEM and Computer Science Teacher of the Year for her dedication to inspiring students through innovative and engaging learning experiences.

With a 9-7 victory over Apex today at Moretz Stadium, the Patriots completed a perfect season and brought home the state championship trophy. From the first whistle of the season to the final horn of the championship match, this team demonstrated incredible determination, resilience, teamwork, and heart.

Today, McDeeds Creek Elementary students kicked off EOG season with an exciting pep rally featuring a performance from the 82nd Airborne Pop Band! The event was filled with energy, encouragement, and school spirit, helping students feel motivated and confident as they prepare to showcase all they have learned this year. ๐

Today, the Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills hosted the 64th Junior Builders Cup, recognizing some of Moore Countyโs most outstanding graduating seniors for excellence in academics, athletics, leadership, school involvement, and community service.
Congratulations to Evelyn Miller of Pinecrest High School, who was named the 2026 Junior Builders Cup recipient! Evelyn received a $3,500 scholarship and the distinguished silver bowl in recognition of this prestigious honor.

Congratulations to the Pinecrest High School menโs golf team on capturing its fourth consecutive NCHSAA State Championship at Pinehurst No. 8! This marks the teamโs first state title in the new 8A classification and adds to an already remarkable legacy of excellence for Patriot golf.
With this victory, the Pinecrest menโs golf program now boasts 10 overall state championships. The team also joins the Pinecrest womenโs golf team in achieving an incredible four-peat after the women secured their fourth straight title this past fall.

Please join us in congratulating the Union Pines High School Navy JROTC program on earning the prestigious designation of Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors for the second consecutive year! ๐
This recognition places Union Pines NJROTC among the top programs in the nation and reflects an outstanding year of leadership, service, competition, and excellence. Throughout the school year, the program hosted numerous regional events, including the Area 5 Orienteering Championship at Raven Rock State Park, the Viking Drill Meet, physical training competitions, the Brain Brawl Academic Competition, and four drone competitions.
The program also celebrated national-level success this year, as both the Air Rifle Team and Drone Team qualified for Nationals. Additionally, Cadet Omari Walker earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. ๐บ๐ธ
