Season 1999-00, Northern Premier League. 20 years ago. Moors narrowly avoided relegation by 1 point. In cup competitions Moors lost to Ossett Town in the FA Cup 2Q, and went out of the FA Trophy R4 to @bishopafc after the FA ordered the R3 match with Harrogate Town to be replayed

@DJNelsonPhotos @gregj85 Let me put that one to bed. The void game was due to them fielding an ineligible player, and a 3-2 loss, Willie Moat scoring both goals. The away replay was 2-0, Moat & Bowes scoring. Four days later after the loss to Bishop Auckland in R4, manager Colin Richardson left the club.
Season 1989-90, Northern League. 30 years ago. A disappointing season for Moors in the league and in the cups. Losing to @WhitleyBayFC in FA Cup 2Q and going out in Round 1 of the FA Trophy, the County Cup & NL League Cup. A season that saw the first appearance of @Jayainsley7
20-05-1974, Vaux Floodlit League Championship Play Off. Spennymoor United, Southern Section winners took on @ConsettAFC, Northern Section winners at Crook. The deadlock was broken in the 85th minute for Moors with Kevin Reilly scoring from the penalty spot, Final Score 1:0
Season 1979-80, Northern League. 40 years ago. Moors, finished as runner up in the league, and won the League Cup for the 3rd time. In other cup competitions, Brandon saw off Moors 3-2 in the FA Cup 1QR. FA Trophy R1 lost 3-1 to Mossley. @DurhamFA County Cup R2R lost to Wingate.
Season 1969-70, Northern League. 50 years ago. An improvement on the previous seasons 7th position. FA Cup R1 lost 4-1 to @Wrexham_AFC. FA Amateur Cup R1 lost 1-0 to @Towlawtown. @DurhamFA Challenge Cup R2 lost 2-1 to Boldon CW. Northern League Cup Final lost 4-1 to @WhitbyTownFC
Season 1959-60, Midland League. 60 years ago. A mid table finish for Moors in the Midland League. They got as far as the FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round where @Blyth_Spartans won 4-0, & in the @DurhamFA Challenge Cup SF lost 2-0 to @westaucklandfc. Moors left for the Northern League.
Season 1949-50, North Eastern League. 70 years ago. An average season, as @NorthShieldsFC take the title. Spennymoor reach the @DurhamFA Challenge Cup Final for the 8th time, losing 1-0 to @ConsettAFC at Roker Park. In the FACup preliminary replay @WillingtonAFC knocked Moors out
15-05-1974, Vaux Floodlit League, Southern Section. Spennymoor win the the Southern Section of the League after a slender 1-0 Brewery Field win vs Billingham @Synthonia. Geoff Simpson’s 60th minute goal books Moors passage to the play off final with the Northern Section Winners.
Season 1939-40, North Eastern League. 80 years ago. The NEL mgt., committee decided to operate with 14 teams due to WW2. Hexham, @Blyth_Spartans, West Stanley & Annfield Plain withdrew before seasons end. Spennymoor & @bishopafc drew 1-1 in the final of the Tudhoe Orphanage Cup.
13-05-1974, Vaux Floodlit League, Southern Section. Moors gain the upper hand in the Southern Section by defeating Ferryhill Athletic 6-0 at The Brewery Field. Scoring for Spennymoor were, Kevin Reilly 10th & 40th, Kenny Banks 25th, Geoff Hart 33rd, Peter Joyce 38th, Robson 90th.
Season 1929-30, North Eastern League. 90 years ago. Although Moors had a mediocre NEL campaign, they fared a lot better in cup competitions winning both the @DurhamFA Benevolent Bowl in January and the County Challenge Cup for the first time, following a replay in May
