@stevejones20 The 2025-26 Spurs are like the Knicks before they started targeting their holes - the Anunoby and Bridges trades, specifically. The Spurs playoff run felt like 2023-24 OKC - test the roster and identify needs. They just also happened to end up in the Finals.
@NateDuncanNBA What always makes Conference Finals games great is turning them into free throw shooting contests. Most exciting play in basketball, really, and it should be showcased on the game’s biggest stages. Tony Brothers doin’ work to get that done.
@fyrebear To be fair (which isn't a Foster forte, necessarily), he is the only official on the active staff at this point who has ever worked a Finals Game 7 (he called Game 7s in 2010 and 2013). So, he may have that game on that basis more than any other.
@fyrebear so where the Game 7 official wasn't a Game 3 or 4 ref, it was because that referee had previously worked 2 games as a crew chief already in that Finals.
@fyrebear In the 4 instances of Game 7 since 2005, the Game 7 crew has been mostly officials who were assigned to Games 3 and 4. I add "mostly" because in 2013, McCutchen worked Game 7 after doing Games 1 & 5 and the same was true of Joey Crawford in 2010.
@DVNJr As scary as that situation was in real time, the devotion of his teammates to protect him, even amidst their obvious concern and fear about what was happening right behind them, was just striking.
@aldridge_12 As a Spurs fan, I'm so thankful for having had the opportunity to root for you while you were with us. Thank you for your efforts here, and thank you for 15 years of enjoying your play for my team and against it.
@fyrebear Morris was to have been, in retrospect, the big add, and that obviously worked out poorly for the Spurs in more than one way -- no Morris *and* no Bertans.
@fyrebear He was more of a hedge than a big add, to me, but I've been surprised that he's been DNP'd. Spurs are still working to right the ship philosophically on the fly in the wake of Hurricane Kawhi, I think. Some workable pieces, but some really odd fits, too.
