Excited the last chapter from my phd is finally out! Using empirical data, we show that simple relationships predicting a community's function from its composition emerge as community diversity is increased. Had so much fun working on this!

I want to thank @hinczewskilab, Suraj Shankar, Bob Woods, and @LuisZaman for all their guidance and support on this work!
And I want to show my deep gratitude for the late @KevinWoodUM who sadly is no longer with us - thank you Kevin for so much!
As one of the last papers to come out of Kevin's lab, I feel like this review is a testament to his enthusiasm and dedication to working on the important biomedical problem of AMR, while highlighting its potential as an exciting context for learning new physics.
Excited to see this review with my late advisor @KevinWoodUM out in advance @AnnualReviews.

Despite only working together for a short time, his support really built up my confidence as a scientist. I will greatly miss his creativity, enthusiasm, and of course his clever jokes to lighten things up. He always knew how to turn a hard problem into something positive.
This has been a very difficult time. Seeing the far reaching impact Kevin had is as comforting as anything can be at the moment, and it shows just a small part of this devastating loss.
Kevin was a tremendous advisor, scientist, and friend.

Thank you @mikhtikh for an amazing PhD experience. Will greatly miss working as a part of your group, but looking forward to starting my postdoc experience with @KevinWoodUM in the coming weeks 🙂
Congratulations to Dr. Jacob Moran! He successfully defended his thesis, "The Emergent Coarse-Granability of Microbial Ecosystems" this morning. #WashU
You’re the Mayor of Celltown. How do you allocate resources to grow? Do you invest in more mitochondria? ER? Golgi? We studied links among systems-level organelle biogenesis, cell size and growth at single cell resolution with our fun tool: rainbow yeast! https://t.co/tvnRhc7nYF
