“Could grow a moral compass.” The super retorts, eyes rolling at the wink thrown her way.
“Guest implies, -I don’t live here-.” Helen corrects, scowling at the amber coloured liquid. “I’m serious, the last thing I need is to babysit a drunk mad scientist.”
"If I could do what I did without any braincells, imagine what I could do with a few", Evelyn teases with a wink, taking an extended sip of her drink and savouring the burn with a sigh.
"'Guest'", she goes on, "implies you were -invited-. I don't remember asking you in."
“Want you to grow a braincell, -maybe-.” Helen snorts, eyeing the drink in hand.
“You shouldn’t be drinking that. This is house arrest, not a Caribbean vacation. Also you’re lacking manners, not that I’m surprised, you offer and pour your guests drinks before your own.”
“Do you always need thing spelled out for you, or are you just acting as dense as Bob?” Helen inquires leaning back against the wall, watching the inventor closely.
“Your rights can’t infringe on the rights of others. Your psycho glasses took away those people’s free will!”
"So, following your logic, I didn't actually do anything wrong." Evelyn shrugs one shoulder, turning to find some sort of alcohol.
"I mean, I only controlled the body. The brain was taking a nap, essentially."
Helen’s brow tightens, scowling at the woman. Very bad taste. Where does the woman get off?
“Thought isn’t policed. What an egregious abuse of power that would be. Actions however, well those are fair game.”
"Big Brother. What an apt description. Preying on free thought does seem to be the trend nowadays, doesn't it?"
The joke is in bad taste, considering her crimes, but what else has she got to do but amuse herself with the heroine?
"And who decides what warrants interfering? You? Seems more like a dictatorship than anything positive."
Mostly because Evelyn can't stand being told what to do. Or not do. Whichever.
Helen looks around in disinterest confusion.
“I don’t recall beating anyone up recently.” She drawls, arms crossing tightly in font of her chest, a singular brow raising.
“I don’t interfere in anything that doesn’t warrant interfering.”
"You're the one going around beating up people who are just going about their business."
Admittedly, the business is occasionally on the sketchy side, but it isn't Evelyn's fault that her interests aren't exactly legal.
“I believe it’s the super villains who are supposedly big and bad.” Helen says with a derisive shrug.
“However, I know better. They’re all just broken people with mommy and daddy issues.”
A grin splits across the supers features.
Oh, this was too good. Really, no one had told the crock of an inventor yet?
“Very fair, considering the judge allowed me to be the one overseeing your house arrest.”
Well, well, well.
Someone got out early.
She’d say it was on account of good behavior, except she knows it’s more to do with the copious amounts of money.
