My loss of faith was gradual and then all at once. It felt like my whole world had turned upside down. My wife's reaction surprised me. She told me how excited she was for my faith journey.

@stackerco@_btcole If this was my whole argument about polygamy then you'd have a point. But this is one paragraph in an entire section about polygamy. I could soften the language "orgy" and add some qualifiers I suppose. Maybe the attached is a better opening to that section.
@stackerco@_btcole You may be mixing up sections. This is a later section about polygamy. Perhaps I could say "some critics". I guess I trusted the reader by this point to understand that every critic is a little different and not all phrase things the same way.
@stackerco@_btcole Mad respect for Vogel. While my letter addresses critics, I name CES Letter Foundation and Mormon Stories by name.
A letter to Vogel would understandably be different.
You think I should address only the best critics and give Dehlin and Runnells a pass?
@stackerco@_btcole If your answer is that apologists use them too (so far the most common critical response) then we can talk about the logical fallacy you'll be using.
@stackerco@_btcole Do you:
1. Think critics of the Church do not use manipulation tactics or logical fallacies? (Or not as many as I claim)
Or
2. Agree they use them but think I gave poor examples? I'm happy to provide more representative samples in an update if you provide them to me.
@stackerco@_btcole The reason this table resonates with people is because saints see all of them all of the time.
Plus, I don't refute the claims from the "strawman". I state a manipulation technique or fallacy and give a representative sample without debunking the claim within the example.
@stackerco@_btcole I see almost every example in the table daily on X and Reddit alone. They are representative examples of the type of hostility any Latter-Day Saint experiences online nearly every day.
Name one you've never seen before from critics.
