@robertkaplinsky It’s very interesting when you actually ponder what’s in these textbooks. I agree the image isn’t needed whatsoever to solve the ?, however I don’t think it was intended to be considered a true model. The “real world link” is a def a stretch imo & maybe only serving as a “hook”?
This "100 Positive Phone Calls" challenge is a hit among students and teachers, says AP @MHawley_3:
"Staff write down a brief summary of the positive call so that others can find that student to celebrate them too! When we reach 100, we have a staff celebration."
@robertkaplinsky When I say circle key numbers, this is always a great opportunity to discuss irrelevant information. When we box in action words, we discuss the “dangers” of “key words”. Ex “total” doesn’t always mean addition. The E is where it all comes together and we make a game plan.
@robertkaplinsky I’ve seen a lot of hate for CUBES over the yrs, but like any strategy in math, it comes down to implementation. I opt to have C as circle KEY #s, B as box in math ACTION words, E as EVALUATE how to solve. To me this is a meaningful way to empower my Ss &help them make meaning.
