“I congratulate Attorney General Josh Stein, along with Governor Roy Cooper, on Mr. Stein's primary election victory. The strategies which Attorney General Stein and Governor Cooper crafted, in the gubernatorial race as well as other contests on the primary ballot, were executed to perfection.

I am honored and thankful to have had the opportunity to run for the highest office in this great state. My candidacy, while insufficient to win the nomination for Governor, nonetheless won the votes, minds, souls, and optimism of many North Carolinians who continue to yearn for a level playing field for all people and a change from the status quo. I am humbled by the support and dedication which was demonstrated for my campaign, and I am renewed that we collectively maintain our pride in our effort."

Visiting high schools throughout the state is a wonderful experience. I had the profound honor of walking the campus of E.E. Smith High School, a beacon of education and community spirit in Fayetteville, North Carolina. This isn't just any high school; it's a living testament to the legacy of an extraordinary individual, Dr. Ezekiel Ezra Smith. Dr. Smith was not only an educator but a visionary leader whose contributions have left an indelible mark on education and civil rights. Born into slavery in 1852, he rose through adversity to become a prominent figure, dedicating his life to the advancement of African American education and empowerment. As a principal, and later, the president of Fayetteville State University, Dr. Smith was at the forefront of educational reform. Visiting E.E. Smith High School reminds us of the strides we've made in education and civil rights, thanks largely to pioneers like Dr. Smith. It's a place where the future is shaped, inspired by the resilience and determination of individuals. This high school continues to provide unique well rounded experiences for students…rich in history, family legacies, and pride. Born of need…destined to serve…striving to excel.

The benefit of campaigning statewide is experiencing the culture, patronizing businesses, meeting new people and enjoying the scenery. We definitely had to have lunch at Mertz! We visited Charlotte , NC — the Queen City renowned not just for its vibrant skyline but also for its deep-rooted historical significance. Did you know Charlotte is home to the first gold rush in America? Before California, it was here, in 1799, where the first substantial gold nugget was discovered (actually in Cabarrus county which made people flock to Charlotte) shaping this city’s pioneering spirit. This exemplifies the spirit of discovery and innovation that Mike Morgan pledges to bring to our state. It's shameful that my primary opponent AG Stein is trying to keep a Convicted Black defendant from getting his long-awaited day in court before early voting begins because Stein doesn't want Black voters to know his (Stein's) argument in this high-profile case which is that the defendant did not experience racial discrimination, despite the NC Supreme Court's Racial Justice Act ruling.
