grief does not mean absence of joy. western society has dictated to us that if you are in pain, you must subscribe to this pain at all times, that you must be public facing with this pain, with no room for joy in the midst of your healing.
even in trauma, we can still find joy.
Seeing things/people/situations for exactly what they are and not what you thought they would/could/should be is an IMPORTANT (underutilized) life skill.
Other people’s perception of you is not your responsibility. However, your actions and growth are. What you put out into the Universe, and how you treat yourself and others ultimately defines the life you live – and how you shape the world around you for others to live in.

253 bills across 43 states have been introduced to restrict voting access, despite little evidence of voter fraud. We have had 7 mass shootings in the last week and only offer thoughts and prayers. In America, Black/brown people voting is considered more dangerous than guns.
We think that avoiding the hard stuff, avoiding pain, avoiding sadness will make us happy.
When in fact....not knowing pain & sadness and not inviting it to BE will only fuel misery
If you think life is all about being happy...then you will be running from some of the most beautiful things life has to offer.

The right people, teachers, and relationships don’t keep you stuck in the middle-space between your former self and your healing. Over time, the right people help you transform and grow. That’s how you’ll know.
