If graduate statistics using R has taught me anything, it is search terms for the stuff I forgot how to do in R.
Almost always in the name of data wrangling aka data is more wild than a wild horse that won't be broken, tamed, or column re-named.
But I'd like to see @UArkansas and @UHC fight for us too. It should not be the burden of the individual student to struggle to figure this out on their own.
This semester I realized how essential insurance that is not tied to a job, a position in graduate school, or a marriage is to surviving graduate school.
Grad school is hard. Juggling publications, research, research assistants, course work, clinical work, meetings, class time, lab hours, social life, etc while ALSO having chronic pain is harder. UARK has some incredible folks fighting to make this better.
I would never be where I am today without the work of Angela Davis, Flo Kennedy, Wilma Mankiller, Dorothy Pitman Hughes, and countless others. It’s hard to push for change when you have no faith in the possibility of change but we owe it to our sisters of the past to keep trying.
Today I ended up 2 feet from Gloria Steinem as she talked about the joy of collectivism and the importance of friends. No one becomes an “icon”on their own. I’m lucky that it was @GloriaSteinem who reminded me of that.
It is wild to think that I never dreamed I could be in college. But I went from backwoods Arkansas to being in a PhD program trying not to cry about @GloriaSteinem declaring that Black women have always carried the feminist movement.
