@helenmucus3@PixelBibleBytes Abraham knew God to be good and had faith that whatever was asked of him would also be good, and crucially, was proven right.
Very illuminating. I was always shocked to read about the violence in Northern Ireland during the troubles and could never understand how Irish "freedom fighters" could be such degenerate terrorists even to random Irishmen. Now I get it.
To some who may be confused: Last nights violence in Belfast was not committed by anyone who would consider themselves Irish & especially was not committed by the IRA.
These men were hardline British Loyalists & wish Northern Ireland to remain in the United Kingdom.
All armed Irish Republican groups & their political parties are leftists & support mass migration 👍
They’re using the guy beheading your brother in the street to distract you from your real enemy: Jeff Bezos delivering medicine to your front door overnight
In the Book of Kings, whenever a righteous king takes power in Judah, his immediate enemy is “the groves” (asherim) and “the high places” (bamot):
These are hidden sites of self-mutilation, ritual prostitution, and child sacrifice in the name of Ba’al, Molech, and Asherah — the gods of the tribes that Israel neglected to eradicate in the conquest of Canaan
Weak kings allow these altars to fester in the wilderness; truly wicked kings bring the whoredoms into the cities, and eventually into the holy place of the temple
It struck me, as we pulled down the rocks and bagged the garbage, that the homeless camp is an altar to our enemies’ gods
Their most sacred principle is the abolition of distinction, the worship of entropy — and the shrine of their cult is a midden heap, ideally somewhere that was once beautiful
@karkinos78@joshnaa2gez To be fair, the Catholic Church is the only other church that has any logical claim to the keys given to Peter. Go thy way in peace.
The framing of this question is the same formula the Pharisees used to try and trap Jesus with.
1) It is a hypothetical that never happened, but is phrased in a way to trick dumb listeners to think it did or that it might.
2) The obvious correct answer is that if God commanded it, then yes, it was right.
3) HOWEVER, the subtle caveat that the sacrifice is to a demon nullifies that response so that the only good answer is to reject the framing altogether.
Its a bad question asked in bad faith by a wicked little man and warrants no response.
The proxy baptism is not forced on anyone. It merely opens the door for you to accept it (or reject it if you like). Paul casually references the practice in 1 Corinthians 15:29 to further his point about the reality of the resurrection. This practice was apparently so well understood in the early church at Corinth that he didnt need to give any sort of clarification or context, nor did he offer any chastisment.
I can understand a person refusing to be baptized by force into another faith, but that is not what is happening here. God respects a person's agency and there is always a choice.
If Buddhists were doing the same sort of work for me, dilligently spending many many hours of their time and resources trying to ensure I had the chance to be saved in the afterlife according to their personal beliefs (true or not), why should I be mad? On the contrary, I would consider them the dearest of friends.
One of the key tenants of our faith (known as Articles of Faith) is that "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things".
In a nutshell, we believe that we do not hold a monopoly on truth and light and we enthusiastically embrace it wherever it can be found. I had never heard of this Family Manifesto, and is pretty different from the wording and tone of the Family Proclamation, but I wouldn't be surprised if our church leaders weren't at least a little inspired to write their own Proclamation because of the Family Manifesto. Kudos to the Evangelicals.
-young smart girlboss techie hero stridently explains to the oafish nice guy journo that she “runs classifiers on political groups where 30% of content hits multiple risk factors” (oafish guy is nice but can’t understand such smarts & humbly offers his loyalty if she’ll womansplain more)
-old brave moral girlboss holds back tears while saying “anxiety & depression of teenage girls got worse as a result of time spent on the platform” (& leadership knew!! & they did nothing!!)
-Zuckerberg villainously says “I’m a free speech absolutist, I’m not the one who’s lying, & I’m not stopping them from seeing someone who is” (this is bad bc “the firehose of bad information you are injecting into the air supply is becoming jet-powered”[???])
-Machiavellian PR guru tells Mark that it’ll be pretty much impossible to wriggle out of this in front of Congress, & puppydog reporter guy says Mark has too much power, & says that other characters are giving him epic mic drop quotes about how Mark has too much power, & when Mark notices how powerful & righteous these girlboss regulators are he says what do they think they’re doing & one of his cronies in awe-struck mic-drop way says of the uptight safetyist leaker “she’s disrupting”
@CovfefeAnon Lmao at these stories:
"You can't fight every racist in the school kid. You're Mr. Honor roll!"
"I was jumped after Barack Obama won the presidency in a landslide."
"My friends had to barricade themselves in a bathroom and fight off ghoulish klansmen in high school."
🤣🤣🤣
To be clear, this is the correct thing any legitimate government should do. The problem is that the majority of western governments abdicated this legitimacy during the 2020 Floyd riots. Them coming out against rioters now has the clear optics of taking sides.
