@Q_Review @Rebel0fReality My preferred take is that (at least within the Wicked books) the original Oz story is the sanitised "propaganda" story, told after the real events had happened. The books explore myth, religion and storytelling in a number of ways, personal and political.

@doovde @beeeeeeaan Compare something like the Time War to the TC; the Doctor did mysterious, potentially dark stuff in the past which is coming back to haunt them in the present. If the Doctor doesn't remember even being the person who did those things, what's the point?

@doovde @beeeeeeaan The Doctor is "special" because of their actions. A being from a corrupt elitist society who chooses to reject that and do good is what's aspirational about the character, it inspires the companions and the audience by proxy to strive to be that too.

@doovde @beeeeeeaan Timeless Child undermines the Dr's agency within the show, their mysterious past is no longer something they're keeping from the companion/viewers, it's something that's a mystery to them too, putting the Dr in more traditional protag role which I don't think fits.

@JayExci Fragmentation of his base, ideally. The uncertainty all this causes will create apathy in some, distrust in others, and open enough folks eyes to how warped their perceptions have become. Post trump maga was always doomed to fracture, but I'm glad this has sped up the process.
