Our first Boxing Day performance in over 40 years!
It was wonderful to see lots of people enjoying morris dancing on 26 December: a tradition that goes back as far as 1899!
We hope to continue this tradition in Doncaster 🎩

‘Morris has by necessity adapted in order to survive this long, and it would be great if more people saw it as the incredibly rich genre it is and as a valuable part of our national cultural identity’ https://t.co/q2FOvNgrZ2
‘the dancers and Doc Rowe were doing it before it was a meme, before it was trending’ – @guardian on the campaign to digitise @docrowe_archive. The results will be archived in our Vaughan Williams Memorial Library https://t.co/FRt2xKDzWz
As you may have gathered from recent posts, together with our neighbours Golden Hare we hosted an ale (a private morris dancing party) on Saturday - and it was great fun!

Wow. We have reached 💥£11k funded💥 thanks to all of you!! Incredible.
In celebration, we wanted to share this: Doc’s earliest footage of Abingdon Morris & the electing of the ‘mock mayor’ of Ock Street. This is another example of the gorgeous 8mm footage he shot in the 1970s.
Incredible news, three days in to our @docrowe109 fundraising project and we've hit our first funding target. Doc's film material is now assured a long term future! Spread the word so we can get started on the VHS! https://t.co/6GZolj905d
