The decision was varied to one that our client’s accommodation is not suitable for her. The judge had no confidence that a further decision would otherwise be made, and described the local authority’s behaviour in ignoring the initial review as 'absolutely disgraceful'.
Sarah Steinhardt @DoughtyStHSW secured an excellent result for our client last week in a Housing Act appeal challenging her unsuitable temp accommodation; grounds and skeleton drafted by @zianabi. A review of the accommodation had been requested but no response received.
An appeal was therefore brought against the original offer of accommodation. The judge confirmed that an offer of accommodation under s. 193 Housing Act is a ‘decision’ which is reviewable under s. 202 and therefore appealable if no review decision is produced.
Thank you @sianmcgibbon for representing our client in the High Court this morning in her JR claim to obtain wheelchair-accessible asylum support accommodation for her disabled son. An Order was eventually agreed between the parties, with JR granted by consent.
"HHJ Raynor is absolutely right that not enough steps have been taken to get trials going again and certainly not quickly enough. However, the problems existed long before coronavirus..." says @EmmaSackville
Our @EmmaSackville represents the young defendant in this matter, which has highlighted the issue of the extension of custody time limits due to Covid-19:

Coinciding with new legislation, Paul Keleher QC & @LeonNathanLynch, instructed by @EmmaSackville of Morrison Spowart Solicitors, successfully oppose an application to extend custody time limit (CTL) for their client https://t.co/YwY6PfrrUe

Our housing team have had a busy few weeks working with people in similar situations – the lack of clarity about who should be accommodating vulnerable migrants is leaving too many people without a safe place to stay during this crisis: https://t.co/JAvbYgfFKT

@HairyGingerCow We would be happy to advise. We are in Catford and have some capacity for urgent cases early next week. Please DM if you still need help.
It's one thing if you work for a law firm and know that this what you need to do to get an appointment, but worrying to thing how many non-lawyers might be unable to get a vital appointment due to the sheer difficulty of contacting the court @HMCTSgovuk
Hard to believe that the only way to get through to the appointments line at Croydon County Court (to make appointments for urgent matters such as staying an eviction next week...) is by calling the central County Courts line and waiting in a queue of about 50 callers...
