We are watching the collapse of gaming and utter disrespect of players and the craft in real time, and weâre being gaslit to think it isnât happening or that itâs somehow a good thingđ
đŁïžTake-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick argues that physical game discs make no sense for consumers
đŁïžHe also predicts that game streaming will be more commercial/mainstream in about 3 years due to the increasing prices of consoles and PC (Did he forget Stadia???)
So hear me out:
â PCs and consoles became more expensive due to data centers
â Now they want you to rent out data centers instead of the hardware that data centers caused to be overpriced
The same way they push physical games away:
âWe had was a box with a disc, a manual, a map and maybe another gameâs demo
âThen they took the items, then the map
âAnd then they started making the game on disc require download or always being connected even for some single player games
âThen they started counting DLC, MTX, free-to-play and digital only to inflate digital sales statistics and make it seem like physical games arenât in demand, when even %10 is still million of people
âNow they wanna take away disc, and to give you a code n the box, while the prices keep rising, while value and options keeps declining
This is their next step to making you own nothing, lock you into their ecosystem so you can remain subscribed and paying for their slop forever.
They will gaslight you into thinking âdownloading games makes no sense, streaming is the way!â
Just like how the hypocrite argues physical games are like vinyl records and that âSony knows betterâ when Sony themselves are marketing vinyl record players are the best way to listen to music and vinyl record sales are so high that artists release many variants to boost their album to No.1
And itâs crazy that gaming is the medium that needs physical media the most, as itâs the most demanding in terms of downloads and streaming compared to music, film, books and shows, all of which are far easier to access via download or streaming for a long time.
And as usual, gaming is the one industry where the customer is always assumed to be âwrong, entitled and toxicâ and treated like children and expected to spend like adults, and also expected to worry about profits for CEOs, studio closures, and basically everything but their own best interest.
Enough is enough!
Stand up for your own self interest, before itâs too late for any meaningful change to happen.
NO DISC đż NO BUY
You donât own your movies, your games, anything.
Itâs all a license they can take away at any given point for any given reason.
Thatâs why they are dismantling physical, thatâs why the lobby meets with lawmakers 13 days before responding to us or lies in the Senate.
