When Adam ate the fruit and God came to him, God found him hiding.
God asked, โAdam, where are you?โ
Adam replied, โI heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.โ
Then God asked him a powerful question:
โWho told you that you were naked?โ
Numbers 13:33, when Moses sent spies to scout the Promised Land, they went and came back with a report. This is what they said:
โWe saw the giants, the descendants of Anakโฆ and we were like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and so we were in their eyes.โ
Pause there. God did not call them grasshoppers.
God did not reduce them. God did not label them as small or weak. That description came from their own fear.
The pattern is the same in both stories. Adam hid because he accepted a voice that produced shame. The spies retreated because they accepted a voice that produced inferiority.
Never listen to a voice that makes you hide, shrink, or disqualify yourself. If it did not come from God. Fear always lies about who you are before it defeats you in life.
Before you step back, give up, or lose confidence, ask the same question God asked Adam:
Who told you?
