Oh, how I understand through experience.

If you think the walls fell because they shouted, you missed the secret they learned in silence.

If you are wondering Why it feels like God is not moving in your life, or why it feels like the enemy is winning, this post is FOR YOU!

We love the part where the walls crumble. We teach this story as a lesson about “shouting your breakthrough into existence,” as if loudness equals victory.

Somewhere along the way, praise became a kind of transaction in our minds: “If I yell loud enough, God has to fix this.”

When you are staring at an impossible wall; a diagnosis, a divorce, a mountain of debt, being told to "just shout louder" is useless advice.

What happened that day at Jericho beats the imagination.

God didn’t start with a shout. He started with six long days of silence; deep, uncomfortable, almost embarrassing silence.

Put yourself in their shoes for a second. These were soldiers. Men trained for noise. Men who lived off the rush of a battle cry. The shout was their strength, their confidence, their weapon. It is what pumps adrenaline, intimidates enemies and makes them feel powerful.

Taking away a soldier's battle cry is like taking away his sword. It leaves him feeling naked.

Picture those six days, they were circling a fortified city, staring at armed enemies who would gladly kill them. But they were forbidden to make a sound.

Everything in them must have been screaming, “Fight back! Say something! Do anything!”

And yet God kept saying, “Be still.”

Why?

Because noise is how we pretend we’re in control. Silence is where we finally admit we’re not.

When your bank account is zero, you have lost your job, your mortgage is due, your marriage is strained, and your health is failing, you suddenly realize you were not in control all this time.

God had to strip away their bravado, their strategies, their self‑confidence, until all that remained was dependence on Him. He let them look foolish so they’d never confuse His victory with their strength.

And think about the people inside Jericho. They were prepared for shouting, for chaos, for the roar of an army. What they weren’t prepared for was a silent procession that felt more like a funeral march than a battle.

Silence can be terrifying. A loud army says, “We’re coming for you.” A silent army says, “God is already here.”

That silence didn’t just humble Israel, it rattled Jericho.

Maybe you’re in your own silent season right now. Maybe you’re begging God, “Why aren’t You doing anything? Why am I still waiting?”

But what if He isn’t ignoring you? What if He’s teaching you mental stillness? What if He’s waiting for you to stop relying on your own noise; your panic, excuses, reasoning, and attempts to fix everything yourself?

The shout on day seven wasn’t what won the battle. It was simply the agreement; the “Amen” to a victory God had already secured in the stillness.

You don’t have to scream your walls down. The power isn’t in how loud you are. It's not in how well you speak in tongues, how many hours you pray, how many days you fast and pray or how many seed you sow. It’s in how surrendered you are.

Can you trust Him enough to be still? Can you actually handle being quiet long enough to let God move freely in your life?

Never thought about this before:

I have always thought that Noah was safe inside the Ark because he built it according to God's specifications. I thought that perhaps it was the strength of the gopher wood and the soundness of the architecture that ensured that the waters of the flood would not come into the Ark.

But today I encountered a verse that shifted this whole paradigm. Let's read what Gen 7:16 says ... "The animals going in were male and female of every living thing as God had commanded Noah... THEN GOD SHUT HIM IN....

Don't miss this.... even after Noah had built the Ark, it was God Himself who shut him in, in order to shut out the waters of the flood... In other translations this verse says "The Lord sealed them inside."

It is not the fact that you have locked your house that keeps you safe at night, it is not your good driving skills that keeps you safe on the road, neither it's your healthy eating habits that keeps you healthy - only God can shut you in and shut out the devil that is seeking to devour you.

Only God can do so much for us.👆
