A poor man attended his ex-girlfriend's wedding in Lagos.

Everyone wondered why he came, especially because she had dumped him years earlier for being broke.

During the reception, the MC asked the bride:

She laughed and said:

“I would never have dated a man who had nothing to offer me.”

Except the poor man.

He stood up quietly and walked toward the exit.

Then the groom grabbed the microphone.

The room went silent.

The groom turned to his bride and said:

“This is the man who paid my university fees when my father died. He sold his motorcycle to keep me in school. Without him, I would never have become a doctor.”

The bride's smile disappeared.

The groom continued:

“Last month, when I asked you who helped you through university, you said you did everything yourself.”

He looked at his bride.

“Now I understand why you never wanted me to meet your old friends.”

Nobody touched their food again.

The poor man simply turned to the groom and said:

“Guy, I didn't come here to expose anybody. I came to wish you happiness.”

Then he left.

The groom stood there holding the microphone, while his bride cried beside him.

Sometimes, the person you look down on is the very person who helped someone else become the person you fell in love with. 💔
