Mr. Museveni called a press conference to address a nation on why Kizza Besigye should not get bail and defend his family from Besigye's longstanding assertion that Uganda was captured by Museveni family.

Museveni is also telling Emmanuel Baguma that Besigye has no right to defy unjust trial.

See what he said below.

"There's therefore a counter offensive against corruption, crime and impunity.

To show the impunity, take the case of Dr. Kizza Besigye, he was arrested on 17th November 2024. Besigye has been in prison for nearly two years. All this time however, he has been refusing trial misusing the legal system. Why would this great democrat and human rights fighter spend so many calories on refusing to come to trial when he has got opportunity to prove his innocence and expose the undemocratic behaviour of the dictatorship of Museveni and his family? What's the problem? Because the dictatorship of Museveni and his family is imprisoning Besigye wrongly? Come to the court and expose it. Why do you spend so much time avoiding court?

Second question, why should the legal system spend so long to allow an accused person to refused to be tried?

Someone who is accused says I don't want to be tried and he is not tried. Is that a good system or what? How can someone who is accused say I don't want to be tried and for two years, he is not tried?

This allowing of impunity to continue for so long is responsible for the culture of mob justice.

The fascist tendencies among some of the elements of the opposition have for a long period provoked the patriots. See again when in 2020, the rioters were undressing women because they were dressed in NRM colours and no body talks about it.

Quite often, you have had slogans tugenda kwokya Kampala (we are going to burn Kampala). What did the slogan tajja kulayira mean? Didn't you hear that? What did it mean for people who want peace, Democrats? The translation is that the elected president of Uganda will not be allowed to swear in. How will you stop the swearing in except by violence if you are not using the courts?

All these schemes we defeat them. How many times have you heard the taunting of hooligans especially the NRM women supporters with words mwe bikazi mwe, mwe mutusibyeeko akasajja. It's the democratic of those women to kubasibako akasajja if they support the kasajja.

The arrested opposition law breakers may not GET BAIL because they threaten the security of witnesses. Some people have been saying give these opposition people bail. When we release them, they attack the witnesses. You can't have democracy without the spirit of democracy, with fascists.

Why should you intimidate a witness if you are innocent, why? The answer why we oppose bail is because, they come to attack the witnesses.

If we allow the witnesses to be attacked, in future, we shall not get witnesses. And what will happen? The security forces can start doing extra judicial executions.

Security people are still bringing these people to court.

It's this undemocratic culture of some of the opposition elements that have been provoking the security forces to fill these gaps.

Therefore, what the security forces have been doing is not a regression in the fight for freedom, but a consolidation of our own fight for the principles of patriotism, pan Africanism, social transformation and democracy."

NOTE: YES BESIGYE KNOWS HE WON'T GET BAIL BUT WILL MUSEVENI'S DEFENCE EXONERATE HIM AND HIS FAMILY?
