My advise to my good friends Nation Media Group.
Nation Media Group Uganda is a Business meant for profit and not an NGO. Any grievance shouldn’t be taken in “US Vs Them” manner. For with the experience in the Past, such a publication could spark far reaching economic consequences that could completely destroy or cripple the media house.
The Managing director shouldn’t follow populists like @TimKalyegira in making such as it is published. I would request that MD. Ms. Nsibirwa to use other measures to resolve that blackout.
Next in line could be to Cut all business between all MDAs with Nation Media Group and next who knows.
DGF, was a very useful organization to Uganda with about $500 million budget, employing and even supporting some government initiatives such as JLOS etc. but govt shut it down. Therefore, Nation media shouldn’t actually be advised by known critics such as Onyango and Tim.
Of course, Govt may have its discomforts but that doesn’t mean that Nation Media will make itself to dare Govt.
We’ve of recent experienced nasty things that require learning from. Such publications could dig a much deeper hole for Nation Media that it seems.
Get out of the populist of the public and seek to hear from one another. It doesn’t mean that you compromise but maybe find a balance. Good and bad things will always surface even in Nation Media Group there are bad things, but we don’t care, the good out competes the bad.
@kasujja@baryamureeba Communication? Is that why they love attack those in power? Don’t you think it’s oxymoronic to attack the powers that give you the freedom to set up shop and run your media businesses to earn bread? It is a paradox indeed. The media needs to know and understand its limits.
