I am pointing out that in full context with tone and his statements before and after, that Trump is NOT condoning Putin, but rather stating how well he is playing NATO.

Sanctions notably have been the UN/NATOs hand slapping mechanism for decades. It rarely deters. They are often about as useful as censure in Politics.

Human understanding largely relies on pretextual information. So without even looking at the supporting information, there is a pretext that Trump is for Putin, not against.
