The statement by General Sylvain Ekenge, Spokesperson for the DR Congo national army FARDC on 27th December 2025 on RTNC (Congolese National Radio and Televesion) broadcast must be condemned in the strongest terms and must be accompanied by serious accountability if the continuing scourge of genocide ideology in DRC championed by the genocidal FDLR and some congolese politicians with DRC government leadership support is to be adressed.
On 27th December 2025, on RTNC, clearly reading from pre-prepared notes, Gen. Sylvain Ekenge, used the exact genocidal hate speech that was used by ideologues of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda which was disseminated through hate media includding RTLM (Radio Television des Milles Collines) and Kangura.
On RTNC, Gen. Ekenge, borrowing from the "Ten Hutu commandments" which were published in genocidal newspaper Kangura in 1990 said, "When you marry a Tutsi woman, you must be careful. When you are a leader, like a great traditional Chief, you are given a woman, but you will recieve at your home a member of her family who will be presented as a cousin or a nephew, when in fact it is the person who will come to have children with your wife in the house, and you will be told that the children are born Tutsi because the Tutsi race is superior to their ethnicities". (NB: He spoke in French so this is a direct translation into English.)
These words are pure and dangerous genocide ideology. Dehumanization of Tutsi by hutu extremists set the final stage for the extermination and near annihilation of the Tutsi during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi. The Nazis dehumanized and systematically targeted the Jews during the Jewish holocaust. Gen. Ekenge is using the same textbook as Kangura and Mein Kampt and is delivering the message on RTNC as genociadaires did in Rwanda on RTLM.
It is important to note that what Gen. Sylvain Ekenge, the FARDC Spokesperson said on RTNC from pre-prepared notes targeting Congolese Tutsi has already been under execution in eastern DRC. DRC government has supported the genocidal FDLR for the last 30 years and embedded them into the national army FARDC for which Gen. Ekenge is the Spokesperson.
There has been systematic targeting of Congolese Tutsi in North and South Kivu. From the hills of Masis and Rutshuru in N. Kivu to the high plateaus that are the ancentral home to Banyamulenge in S.Kivu, Congolese Tutsi have been hounded from their ancentral land, denied citizenship rights, and many have been killed in a systematic campiagn of terror and ethnic cleansing. Women have been raped and untold human rights violations metted on innocent women and children. These attrocities have been committed by the genocidal FDLR, FARDC, unruly Wazalendo and other DRC government supported negative armed militia.
In 2024, the village of Nturo in Masisi, N. Kivu was totally burnt down and the whole village with over 300 homes was destroyed. No one in the international community said anything.
Hundreds of thousands of Congolese Tutsi have been in UNHCR refugee camps in Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and other parts of the world for almost 30 years. A handful have been relocated to Europe, N. America, Australia etc... Many have been rendred stateless without the right to dignified rerurn to their ancental lands. Yes what Gen. Ekenge said goes beyond genocide ideology. There is already a slow genocide happening against Congolese Tutsi in EDRC.
The International community must speak out against this hate speech and genocide ideology; and act quickly if any lessons are to be learnt from the tragedy of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
What Gen. Ekenge said constitutes crimes as judged in the genocide media case in the International Crimes Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR). DRC Government must hold Gen. Ekenge to the highest level of accountability to demonstrate seriousness that Congolese Tutsi will be protected from hate speech and ethnic cleansing.
