I’d be interested to learn, given these machines are designed to operate in environments just like this - tight spaces, pedestrian areas, places with many obstructions etc, whether they have any advanced monitoring equipment such as camera systems, sensors, emergency collision avoidance systems or speed restrictions when in operation or manoeuvring etc.

If not, then why not.

On face value, without hearing their account, it seems that the machine operator is at fault having failed to properly check their surroundings prior to reversing.
