Two days of a high-dose oat diet lowered LDL cholesterol by 10% in adults with metabolic syndrome.
Participants ate 300 grams of rolled oats per day (about 4 cups). By contrast, eating 80 grams daily for six weeks did not significantly lower cholesterol.
What I find especially interesting is the mechanism. Oats shifted the gut microbiome and increased phenolic metabolites, including dihydroferulic acid. These changes tracked with the cholesterol reduction.
Oat beta-glucan is already known to lower LDL. These microbial metabolites may be another piece of the puzzle, and another reason I eat whole oats once or twice a week.
@arznasun1@TeaPainUSA Yesterday, the President of the United States publicly told a foreign adversary that it is okay to destroy two major US cities & today we have not a single meaningful whimper from the public.
No chance of stopping him when most Americans continue to just rollover.
Good morning!
The President of the United States last night greenlit the destruction of two major US cities by a foreign adversary & all of Congress, along with most Americans, will shrug today.
Great day to be an American.🙃
@Brady_H That's a whole lot of text to say, "I used a proven supplement designed to improve strength & power, but it didn't work. Oh, I also run all day, weigh a buck thirty-four, and occasionally lift light weights in my garage".
@NickHarrisFWST This combination of corporate look and corporate speak is always rewarded with a promotion to Senior VP of XYZ.
Sadly, this is the blueprint.
