A celebration of Scottish women in football through poetry and prose, 50 years on from the ‘ban’ edited by Karen Fraser, Julie McNeill and Fiona Skillen
What a fab way to spend a lunchtime. Thanks to #GlasgowWomensLibrary for an interesting and inspiring #storycafe with the authors of A Most Unsuitable Game. With proceeds all going to #grassroots football, I had to buy a copy, and can't wait to read it!
Huge thanks to Glasgow Women’s Library for inviting us to take part in their story cafe. We had a great time sharing stories of remarkable women from @TippermuirBooks A Most Unsuitable Game. Great audience, great celebration.
Our paper on ‘A Most Unsuitable Game’ was awarded the conference prize for inclusivity at #FootyCon25 International Football History Conference in Belfast. A great recognition for the diversity of voices in the book and the work centring women’s stories and women’s experiences.
Our last post for today sees the end of #footycon25 with two winners being announced, with Gabrielas Rios-Infante winning our day 2 best paper prize & @FionaSkillen, @KJ61 and @JulieMcNeill1 winning our conference inclusivity prize, both of which are sponsored by @tandfsport
We also have to thank @MostUnsuitable for their panel at the conference, which was the well deserved winner of our inclusivity prize, which celebrates inclusive & diverse histories of football history. A huge thanks and congratulations to @FionaSkillen, @KJ61 & @JulieMcNeill1
Our 2nd session at #footycon25 begins with a first time delegate, all the way from Mexico, in Gabriela Rios-Infante, (we’ve apologised to Gabby about the downgrade in weather a lot) who is talking about the philosophy of Women’s football in Mexico through an ethnographic Lens
A change of pace now as we have a panel with @FionaSkillen, @KJ61 and @JulieMcNeill1 talking about their joint book ‘A most unsuitable game’, released last August and covering the history of women’s football in Scotland
Good luck to all delegates travelling to Belfast today for #Footycon25 There’s a great collection of presentations lined up for the next few days. Enjoy it all.
Enjoying some brilliant Scots language poems this #giesascotspoem day. We are in Belfast about to share this celebration of women’s football with the folks at @FootyCon bring it on!
One more sleep and the editorial team are off to Belfast! Can’t wait to bring our work to the International Football Conference. Looking forward to meeting old and new friends there too!
