There was a time when England went to Sri Lanka like men visiting a dentist they already feared. 11 years since the last win. 11 years of spinning tracks, sweating palms & collapses that started after lunch & ended before tea.
Then came Kevin Pietersen in Colombo, 2012, batting like he had heard none of the warnings.
He arrived from Pakistan with nothing in his pockets. A lean series, they called it. Polite words for a man who looked lost against the turning ball. But KP never stayed lost for long. He found different maps altogether.
The pitch at Colombo was treachery dressed as clay. On day 1, Sri Lanka scraped just 238 runs. Day 2, both teams managed 191 runs combined. Meanwhile Pietersen scored 151 from 165 balls with 16 fours & 6 sixes. England made 198 while he stood at the crease. Do that math slowly. He made 151 of 198.
He batted on a different surface mentally. The same ball that gripped & turned for others, he hit over midwicket with that flamingo whip, that absurd extension of limbs that made no technical sense & perfect cricketing logic.
England needed 94 in 4th innings. 2 wickets fell early. The old panic started whispering. 11 years of history knocking at the door. KP walked in & made 42 from 28 balls. The winning hit cleared the rope with violence.
Since that day, England have won every Test in Sri Lanka. Every single one. But you remember the first. You remember the man who refused to believe in curses, who made 151 when 30 looked impossible, who hit a six to win because walking there would have been too ordinary.
This innings changed what England believed they could do on turning tracks, in foreign heat, against the spinning ball. It started with a man who batted like he was alone on the field & ended with a team that finally knew they could win in Asia.
Just a few months later, same year, he walked into Wankhede, played another masterclass & ended another drought altogether. But that is for some other day.
The Shroud of Turin is believed to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ .
Research at Padua University in Italy has shown that more than 40% of human DNA on the cloth has Indian origin .....ie it was made in India and then imported by Rome via mediterrinian route ( traces of DNA from the area ).

Well Sanjiv Goenka and Lucknow Super Giants have managed the impossible.
He has united Virat FC and Rohit FC
He has united T20 fans and Test fans
He has united religions across India
All united in the view that this is the single worst cricket shirt that has ever been produced.
IPL teams has very limited visible spectrum. Zero creativity. Nothing cool. Just ugly looking Jerseys years after years. Look at how good BBL and The Hundred Jerseys are. They pay huge money to designers and come up with crap. Even a simple Google search or AI prompt would give better options.
