Ghostbusters II
Released June 16, 1989
Ghostbusters II Facts and a deleted scene with Eugene Levy
-After the release of this film, Louis Tully was added into The Real Ghostbusters (1986) cartoon series.
-While the role of Vigo was played by Wilhelm von Homburg, all his lines were dubbed by Max von Sydow. Wilhelm left the premiere in anger when he found out.
-In the first draft of the script, Dan Aykroyd wanted to contrast to the first film's climax atop a skyscraper by making a subterranean threat. This draft followed Dana Barrett, who is kidnapped and taken to Scotland, where she discovers a fairy ring and an underground civilization. The Ghostbusters would have had to travel through an underground pneumatic tube over 2,000 miles long that would have taken three days to traverse. Aykroyd eventually decided that retaining the New York setting would allow for continuity and would better fit the story he wanted to tell while still allowing them to explore underground and that his first draft was "really too far out... too inaccessible".
-Bill Murray said in an April 2021 interview that he and the other cast members signed on to this film based on a script they didn't use. "(Ghostbusters 2) ended up not being the story they wrote. They got us in the sequel under false pretenses. Harold had this great idea, but by the time we got to shooting it, I showed up on set and went, 'What the hell is this? What is this thing?' But we were already shooting it, so we had to figure out how to make it work."
-The scene where Louis Tully finds Slimer in the fire station apparently eating his lunch was originally intended to be a running gag in the film where Louis would try and trap the ghost and try and prove himself as a Ghostbuster.
-Peter MacNicol claims that he got the accent for Dr. Janosz Poha from Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice
-In an interview in Starlog 148 (published November 1989), Peter MacNicol revealed that in first script he saw, the character of Janosz Poha was a rather lackluster villain called Jason. MacNicol suggested making the art restorer come from Carpathia, which is why he's an expert on the painting of Vigo. During filming, MacNicol spent a lot of time in his trailer, creating Janosz' origin and accent, as well as a mythology for Carpathia.
Hollywood is at risk of becoming Detroit, advocates warn, unless the U.S. responds to the 81 countries embracing filmmaking as an economic tool.
“I watched the demise of steel and rubber and automotive manufacturing as I grew up,” says IATSE vice president Mike Miller, who was raised in Cleveland. “This is identical in many ways. We have an undeclared trade war that our government is standing by and watching happen.”

ANTHONY MASON
Anthony George Douglas Mason was born in Miami, Florida, December 14, 1966, but spent most of his childhood in Queens, New York. He attended nearby Springfield Gardens High School and became an instant sensation, earning PSAL All-City honors.
Mason accepted a college scholarship to Tennessee State University where he had an outstanding collegiate career drawing the attention of NBA scouts.
The 6'8" 250 lb. power forward was a ferocious, physical rebounder, who had a nice shooting touch, could also put the ball on the floor, and passed well. That kind of strength, combined with those refined basketball skills, could get a player drafted into the NBA! The Portland Trailblazers chose him in the 3rd round of the 1988 draft, but were not happy enough to keep him. He played in Turkey, a season with the Nets, a season with Denver, a season in Venezuela, and one with the Long Island Surf, before coming home to play 5 seasons with the NY Knicks.
His 13 years in the NBA included the New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Miami Heat averaging 10.8 points and 8.3 in his career.
Mason won the NBA 6th Man of the Year Award in 1995 and led the NBA in minutes played in the following two seasons. In 1997, he was named to the All-NBA Third Team and the NBA All-Defensive Second Team. He was selected to the 2001 NBA All-Star Game. Mason was a member of the 1993–94 New York Knicks team that reached the NBA Finals.
He was a beloved fan favorite, and was himself blessed to play so successfully in front of his hometown NYC crowd!
Anthony Mason had a heart attack in early February 2015 and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. He died soon after on February 28, 2015, in New York City at the age of 48. RIP Anthony Mason. A NY Knick to remember during this time!
