I have two sons - a 6 yr old (Òkìkíọlá) and a 2 year old (Ajíbọ́lá). There are some things I've been doing, which are working well so far.
1. Exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months. You need to work with their mum on this.
2. Start talking to them early. When they speak their gibberish, reply them as if you understand. It will prompt them to talk more. If you pay attention, some of the gibberish will have meaning, as they'll use it in the same scenario over and over again.
When he was just over a year old, Ajíbọ́lá would say "mamat" when he needs food or water. He would say "Tataaam" if he needs you to put the next spoon or morsel into his mouth. These are just some examples of what seemed like gibberish, but have meanings to the child.
3. As soon as they start talking, introduce them to poems, pictures and crafts. Give them book and pencils to just draw any "rubbish" they want to.
4. As soon as they start school, get involved. Go over their books with them. Don't teach them their assignments. Guide them to do it. Even when they're stuck, don't just offer them the solution. Keep asking them what they think can be done and throw in little suggestions here and there. As they process the question and relate it with your hints, their problem solving skills will keep developing.
5. Fuel their curiosity, don't ignore their questions. From age 4, they'll ask you lots of questions. From what they did in school, to things they learnt in their cartoon and all, they'll ask you questions. Show off your knowledge at this point. Explain to them in the simplest of terms. Use teaching aids if possible. After explaining some things to Òkìkíọlá, I'd say "Hey Google, show me an image/video of blah blah" and it'll match what I've explained. He has done this severally. At some point, he believed that I know everything. The audio attached was made on 02/02/2025. He just asked me "How did you know everything?"
6. Correct with love. If they're always scared, it can affect their mental well-being.
7. Compliment and reward them whenever they learn something new. Òkìkí has seen this as a cheat code. Whenever he needs something, he would tell me something he learnt first. The last time he needed me to buy him something, he listed seven colours if the rainbow and seven continents that I just taught him, the day before. To him, he has my generosity button. To me, I'm building a young man who is learning new things every day - win-win!
8. If you're changing a choice they make, don't just make an order. Explain to them why you are changing the choice. Explaining the thought process will help them better than just vetoing.
9. Make them love you so much that they won't want to disappoint you or make you feel bad. To do this, you have to be present.
PS: These are few of the things that's working for me so far. They're not perfect and may not work for everyone.

*VO:-* (slim white Lady)
*Interview Proper:-*
I was scheduled for 9am but I had my interview around 10:48am. I can't remember the window (but I think it is window 5, the one at the extreme).
*VO:-* Your I-20 and passport please.
*Me:-* Good morning Ma, while sliding in the documents. Please Ma, I want to bring something on my I-20 to your notice. Should I go ahead.
*VO:-* Okay, what is it.
*Me:* so on my I-20, it is written 3 years but my program is only a 2 years program. I reached out to the school Administrative officer concerning this but he told me not to worry that this is how they issue the I-20.
*VO:* alright, no problem.
*VO:-* What is your plan.
*Me:-* _(looking confused because I have never heard this question before — so after a few seconds of silence, I began)_
Do you mean my postgraduate plan or.....(She cut)
*VO:-* I mean, your study plan.
*Me:* _(gaining myself, since it was a familiar question, but I didn't start the way I always prepare in mock)_.
Ok, my program requires a minimum of 30 credit hours which entails 12 hours of core coursework, 9 hours of concentration-specific core courses and 9 hours of elective coursework. I will be offering courses on......(She cuts)
*VO:-* What program are you going for and where.
*Me:-* _(omo, I just remembered that this is what I should have started with, mess up🤦🏼♂️)_
Oh yes, I am going for my master's program in Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology at the University of Oklahoma, Norman and I will be working under the guidance of Prof. Xxx.
*VO:-* Why did you choose this school _(do not give me common answers like the program curriculum, or the research this and that)_.
*Me:-* _(Omo I just weak)_. I chose this school because of the of the program curriculum which.. _(so I stuttered a bit here, in my head I was looking for another word to replace curriculum with because she had initially said no generic answer like program curriculum and the rest. I couldn't find anything so I had to say it 😭- immediately I said curriculum, she interjected with a bit of frustration as she looked at me, what is it about the curriculum or what area of the curriculum do you find interesting)._
I stepped in, in areas of Human performance optimization, the program is designed to enable students evaluate physical fitness and cardiovascular disease risk including providing corrective, rehabilitative and exercise measures to promote optimal physical fitness and health.
_[As I was saying all of these, she was looking at me eyeball to eyeball, immediately I finished, she gave an affirmative nod and type, only God knows what she typed. It was at this point I was feeling hopeful that this might just be the day because of the satisfied look she gave me as I finished answering]_
*VO:-* so why did you change from Environmental Health to this program.
*Me:-* _[the question I never stopped preparing every time I rehearsed my transcript]._

ILE-IYAN SAGA: THE TRUE STORY
In any dispute, there are always two sides to the story, just as with the case of Ile-Iyan Nigeria Limited and its pounded yam business. Ile-Iyan Nigeria Limited was co-founded by Sheriff Sanni (also known as SanniKayz), along with two initial investors who contributed N10,000,000 and N5, 000,000 respectively Within six months, the relationship deteriorated, prompting the investors to seek a refund and exit the arrangement.
Lacking the funds to repay the investors, and with the business facing financial ruin, Sheriff had to look for new financing options. He chose to bring in another investor rather than take out a loan. Sheriff approached Musty, seeking to leverage on his team’s financial capabilities as well as decades of expertise in the food and hospitality business. Musty only agreed to come on as a partner, not as an investor after several persuasion from Sheriff.
At this point, it is instructive to note that Musty and his TEAM were in the process of starting a restaurant business and had secured its outlet at Ikeja prior to being approached by Sheriff in October 2023 to partner in the business.
After multiple appeals and pleas by Sheriff, Musty's company, through its subsidiary Peaceful Oasis Destination Limited (PODS), invested N80,000,000 (Eighty Million Naira) in the venture. Please understand that while the initial investor held 40% equity for N10,000,000 investment, Musty(PODS) agreed to 30% equity for their larger investment, leaving Sheriff with a 70% majority stake. In addition, Sheriff was left in charge of company finances for the Ile-Iyan outlets. A very fair deal.
To support expansion of the business situate at Lekki, Musty provided its Ikeja GRA outlet. However, days after opening Ile-Iyan Ikeja, Sheriff gave Musty a 3 day notice of his intention to japa, and on 18th January, 2024, Sheriff relocated to Canada with his family, leaving behind an underperforming Lekki and the new Ikeja outlet.
In order to salvage the situation, with its hospitality experience, Musty(PODS) took over management, and despite challenges, the Ikeja outlet became profitable, surpassing the Lekki outlet which became profitable for the first time. PODS charged a separate management fee for this since it now had to commit its employees to managing the outlet (note that this management fee was inclusive of Sheriff’s salary of N1,400,000, as well as his brother’s salary which Sheriff had increased to N400, 000 monthly for popping into the Lekki branch from time to time - ensuring Sheriff had another eye in operations of the business).
It was also agreed that a separation between finance and operations was going to take place. Sheriff, having relocated from the country to Canada would deal with finance and PODs would operate the company. Part of that agreement meant PODS would keep Sheriff’s key staff in both branches for adequate checks and balances. Paulina Legba was kept as the manager(Olori) of the Ikeja outlet while Sheriff' brother, Afeez Sanni was in charge of the Lekki branch, apart from a host of staff.
It is also necessary to note that in December 2023, a month after investing into the business, Sheriff claimed profitability in the Lekki branch. PODS asked for an audit which Sheriff dodged, he came up with some figures and shared the funds. The initial amount was used by Musty to pay PODs hospitality management fee in January of 2024 as it did not charge Ile-Iyan Nigeria Limited for its services which include procurement, cost control, daily financial reporting, operational management and other costs incurred.

The rate of kidney failure and disease are increasing amongst young people. Please 🙏:
Don't smoke
Control your blood pressure
Stop abusing herbal medications/supplements
Don't abuse pain medications especially NSAIDS like Ibuprofen etc
Don't bleach your skin
Please pray for TG Omori.
He has battled kidney failure for 1year.
His only brother donated a kidney for him and the transplant kidney didn’t work for him.
He will have to continue dialysis until he gets another kidney. Most people with kidney failure need 2-3 dialysis sessions per week for them to stay alive.
In Nigeria today,
Dialysis is about 80k per session.
That’s about 240k a week and 960k a month. This is apart from many miscellaneous expenses that keep coming along. I have not talked about money he will spend on medication and other health expenses he will have in between dialysis. So essentially we are talking about roughly 1.5-2million naira PER MONTH for the person with kidney failure to live optimally on dialysis and stay alive.
Abroad in the uk,
Dialysis done privately is about £300 per session. So this is a no-brainer except you are a millionaire in pounds.
Patients with kidney failure need regular dialysis to do the work of their failed kidneys. Dialysis do NOT cure the failed kidneys, it only buys the patient time until they find a donor kidney.
If they never find a donor kidney,
Or they find a donor kidney and the procedure fails or their body rejects it,
They have to continue dialysis or they may die if they run out of money to continue the dialysis.
I know people personally who had to sell land, sell houses, sell assets, sell jewelleries, and eventually died from the expenses of dialysis and kidney failure. It is an unfortunate and a very cruel unkind medical condition that will eventually kill its victims if they never find a donor with a kidney that works or if they are unable to afford regular dialysis on a longterm.
I take my time to say all of this:
To explain to you how financially draining kidney failure is and why we must all be aware of it to prevent it and live healthier longer lives.
How to know someone has kidney failure:
They may have swollen face, legs or arms.
They may have nausea or vomiting.
They may have generalised body itching.
They may have uncontrolled blood pressure problems. If you, your loved one or your family member has any of the mentioned symptoms, please see a doctor and get a comprehensive medical check up. Before the kidneys finally pack up and fail completely, there are usually simple signs that the body gives (which are what I mentioned above here).
How to prevent kidney failure:
Monitor your blood pressure yearly,
Monitor your blood sugar yearly,
Keep your weight under control,
Avoid excess alcohol use,
Stop smoking- of any kind,
Drink 2-3litres of water everyday,
Avoid using/injecting any hard drugs.
Stay away from unregulated street herbal drinks. Get yearly medical checks if you have people in your family with kidney failure.
Sometimes a person may develop kidney failure even when they have done absolutely nothing wrong. So pls don’t assume that having kidney failure is the person’s fault. Sometimes it may purely be as a result of a genetic disorder or an inherited medical condition.
Except you have lost a loved one to kidney failure or you have seen firsthand the trauma, the pain, the loss and the unspeakable suffering that kidney failure can cause, you may never truly understand how very important this message here is.
And as for the donated kidney:
No, it cannot be returned to the donor, if the recipient’s system rejects it. Because usually it would have spent time in the system of the recipient and will most likely be unsuitable for re-transplantation into anybody else. This sad reality only adds more to the pain and the torture of the whole process both for the recipient and the donor.
On a final note:
Please pray for TG Omori.
You may not have money to give him.
You may not have a kidney to give him.
But please say a prayer for him if you can.
There’s a really long road ahead for him.
And may God stand by him in this very difficult time.
Have you seen or heard about a person who was smoking his weed with steeze and suddenly went berserk? I mean started having conversations with people that no one else can see or even become aggressive! That is part of what doctors call drug-induced psychosis.
If you’ve stopped smoking weed, know that it can remain in your blood for at least 3 months. It is also stored in body fat and can remain there for years. So if years later you drastically lose weight, all the cannabis stored in your fat can come all at once and cause acute drug-induced psychosis as well.
Drug-induced psychosis is a serious mental condition triggered by the use or withdrawal of certain substances, leading to a break from reality. It can be caused by illicit drugs as well as genuine prescription medications if you don’t follow your doctor’s directions correctly.
It is characterised by hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized thinking. This type of psychosis can manifest during intoxication, withdrawal, or even after prolonged drug use.
Let’s talk more about this 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
