🚨News! https://t.co/crKiEXYrrb
Low-SES students are often portrayed as lacking skills. We test the effect of reframing this narrative in a field trial (N=786). Highlighting the strengths low-SES students show boosted grades over one semester, closing an SES-performance gap.
Incredibly excited about a special issue @chrisrozek and I are editing on SCHOOL BELONGING with Ed Psych Review! 🎉
The first paper is out! Once published, all papers can be found here: https://t.co/PkLx2tZv6o
I’ll update this thread when each article gets posted ⬇️
news! 🚨👀Social inequality research can sometimes inadvertently stigmatise disadvantaged groups as weak, lacking in agency, motivation, or skills. In our new review, we highlight how we can come to a more accurate and non-stigmatizing study of inequality.

We are very happy to see this now in its peer-reviewed an accepted form, including 5 current lab members (@juja_jule, @leopold_roth, @GeorgiaClay5, Dominik Meindl and Christopher Mlynski) as well as 4 master students.
Happy to share that this project with @juja_jule and many more is now recommended as Stage 2 Registered Report on @PeerCommunityIn. You can find the peer-reviewed pre-print here (thread below): https://t.co/WfRTx6FIbL
It‘s been a while, but I had a lot of fun presenting my research at #aps24sf and SSM! Took the opportunity to explore the beautiful nature around as well. Which just made sense considering my research is about motivating people to protect said nature 🏞️
Happy to share our IPA at @PeerCommunityIn with @TassiloTissot: Is it Worth the Hustle? A Multi-Country Replication of the Effort Moralization Effect and an Extension to Generational Differences in the Appreciation of Effort

⏰Publication alarm from our last publication in 2023⏰
Is having a back-up plan bad for performance on the current goal?
Our Study by Christopher Mlynski, Swantje Mueller, Christopher Napolitano & @VeronikaJob suggest it depends https://t.co/A7dqBRpM7a
Results: the effect of family-based alternative paths on school performance is largely dependent on the degree of experiencing an action crisis during college
@PCI_RegReports also thanks to our editor and review team which helped to significantly strengthen the manuscript and design before data collection. you can read up on the review process on @PCI_RegReports site of our report as well.
🚨Our lab's first @PCI_RegReports registered report was accepted (stage 1)! We will validate a new German translation of the #selfcontrol strategy scale and explore its relationships with e.g., procrastination, health and environmental #behavior. #validation#measurement
@PCI_RegReports across 4 studies, including 1 longitudinal assessment, we will validate the scale and test how different strategies might be related to things like depressive symptoms, sleep procrastination and relationship quality.
@PCI_RegReports imagine you want to avoid lactose, due to an allergy. not even going into the part of the supermarket, where chocolate with milk is sold might be easier than buying the chocolate and then inhibiting the urge to eat it at home.
@PCI_RegReports why is this useful? inhibition of action can be a useful tool to stick to ones longterm goals, yet different domains maybe need different strategies and inhibition might not always be the best choice.
@PCI_RegReports we translated the SCSS by Katzir et al. (2022), which aims to reach beyond the most common definition of self-control as inhibition strength, to include alternative strategies, such as situation selection.
