Colonel Valentin Korenchuk, a military pilot and squadron commander with the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade โGhost of Kyiv,โ has been awarded the highest honor โ Hero of Ukraine.
During his service, the colonel flew over 80 combat missions (73 of which were specifically aimed at destroying enemy equipment and providing air cover for ground troops), logged nearly 300 hours in the air, and personally destroyed dozens of enemy targets: aircraft, cruise missiles, and drones.
๐บ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐น 42-year-old Italian volunteer Alex Pineschi was killed while defending Ukraine near Lyman, according to reports from fellow foreign volunteers and Ukrainian media.
Before coming to Ukraine, Pineschi had spent years in conflict zones in Syria and Iraq, where he fought against ISIS and worked as an instructor. He later said that he joined Ukraineโs defense because he had found โa cause worth risking everything for.โ
Reports say he was serving with a Ukrainian reconnaissance and drone unit and was killed alongside his comrades on May 23.
Alex became one of many foreign volunteers who left behind their ordinary lives to stand with Ukraine against Russiaโs invasion. His story is a reminder that this war has drawn people from around the world who believed Ukraineโs fight was also a fight for freedom.
Honor, respect, and gratitude to a man who chose to stand with Ukraine.

"The war will increasingly move onto Russian territory, and Russians will feel it more and more..

Astounded judges force Pete Hegseth's lawyer to concede that Senator Mark Kelly NEVER SAID 'disobey lawful orders.'
"He says you have a duty to disobey unlawful orders, right? That is something that is taught at Annapolis to every cadet, right?" the judge asked.
A world-renowned French writer and volunteer soldier once said that to be human is to feel responsible for what happens around you. Another great thinker, also a volunteer soldier, wrote: โThere is profound meaning in the fact that it is the strongest life that most willingly sacrifices itself.โ These two quotes perhaps best capture the essence of Ukrainian volunteers โ those who chose to stand and fight rather than flee.
There is no greater happiness than defending what is dear to you and taking your countryโs fate into your own hands. To be someone who takes charge of their own life and stands at the center of the most decisive events for their nation.
From the very beginning, and throughout the years, Azov battalion has been a focal point of the volunteer spirit in Ukraine. And it remains so to this day. No modern weapon terrifies the occupiers as much as disciplined, highly trained, and motivated fighters who have consciously chosen to trade the comfort of their homes and the peace of rear cities for the steel storms of battle in defense of their homeland. Those who, following the call of their hearts, stood up for Ukraineโs independence in 2014 and again in 2022 โ and who today have become true professionals in the art of war.
I salute every Ukrainian volunteer soldier and thank you for the choice you made, the responsibility you accepted, and the steadfastness you show despite all the hardships along this difficult path.
Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to Ukrainian volunteers!
