And…they get it.
Caleb Albert scores with six seconds left to win the first district championship in program history for Moravian Academy.
Wow..
Final score: 12-11
I'm convinced @DukeWBB Coach Kara Lawson is one of the best leaders in sports. This clip on urgency, growth not being linear, and the idea that there is no finish line is superb:
🥱 Need It > Want It. The people who win aren’t always the most gifted, they’re the ones who refuse to look away from what’s required RIGHT NOW. They stay present with the hard, the boring, and the uncomfortable, and they attack anyway. Wanting shows up when it’s convenient; needing shows up when it costs you something.
📈📉 Growth isn’t a straight line. There will be peaks that tempt your ego and valleys that test your belief. Real leadership is keeping your urgency and sharpness intact through all of it. Trusting that consistency is what will carry you through. Don't let your own impatience with stagnancy take your spirit.
🏁 There is no finish line where you finally get to coast, only new levels that ask more of you. Better is a direction, not a destination. The “ceiling” you feel is often just an imaginary story you’ve told yourself about what’s possible. Growth asks for the endurance to keep going and the humility to treat every day, every season, every year as another chance to get better.
Bring urgency to the way you show up every day. Don't ever give up on your own growth. 🌱

⚽️ ECNL vs GA ⚽️
By now there is no argument. ECNL is a better platform than GA.
Since the ECNL platform is stronger, their ECNL-RL platform is starting to out perform the GA. You’re starting to see a lot of ECNL-RL teams with a lot more college commitments than GA teams.
ECNL has won, and their RL platform is starting to take a second place seat above GA in the race for college soccer commitments.
If you’re a GA club, beg whoever you need to and try to enter your club in the ECNL or get left behind.
Thank you @susa_academy for the stats.

Tom Izzo shares an uncomfortable truth about earning your spot.
"You play real good, you start. You don't play as good, you work your way back in."
"That's the American way - except America has gotten soft."
You don't get what you want in life - you get what you earn.
It starts with showing up and earning it every single day.
No shortcuts...Just hard work.

DM recently received:
“Coach, what’s the best way to get recruited? Showcases, ID Clinics, Emails/highlights?”
The honest answer: there isn’t one magic formula. Here’s how one of our recent classes stacks up:
⚽️ One was a USYS player we had never seen before. Found her while researching top HS goal scorers beginning of her junior year. Saw her live, got her to campus and she committed. Quick turnaround!
⚽️ One is the daughter and sister of former Tribe players, ECNL player. Tribe roots run deep.
⚽️ One was a talented ECNL player and younger sister of someone we had previously recruited. Came for a visit and fell in love with the school and program.
⚽️ One was an under-the-radar USYS player we discovered playing against one of our commits. Invited her to a clinic… she committed Fall Jr Yr.
⚽️ One was a GA player who got our attention at an ID clinic and put herself firmly on our recruiting list. She committed Fall Jr Yr
⚽️ One ECNL player from California had a coach who kept advocating for her and she loved William & Mary. Persistence paid off.
⚽️ One was completely under the radar, made her way onto ECNL/GA teams late, and we saw her at a showcase spring of her senior year.
Moral of the story:
There is no single path to getting recruited.
Showcases
Clinics
Recommendations
Research
Advocates
Development over time
The key is simply getting on a staff’s radar

FAILING TO HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE:
- erodes your team's culture
- undermines your team's standards
- weakens your leadership credibility
- frustrates people who do the right thing
- destroys your team's chances of success
IF YOU WANT TO WIN,
YOU MUST HOLD PEOPLE ACCOUNTABLE.

ASSESS YOUR TEAM LEADERS:
✅ Are they your hardest workers?
✅ Do they care about winning?
✅ Do they exemplify your standards?
✅ Are they all about the team?
✅ Do their teammates respect them?
✅ Are they on the same page with you?
✅ Do they hold their teammates accountable?
You can complain about it.
Or you can fix it.
You can point fingers.
Or you can take responsibility.
You can wait for someone else to do it.
Or you can get it done today.
You can watch you teammates be lazy.
Or you can hold them accountable.
Your choices lead to your success.
If you can't get it done in practice
you won't get it done on game day.
If you're not confident in practice
you won't be confident on game day.
If you're not focused in practice
you won't be focused on game day.
The habits you cultivate in practice
will show up on game day.
