I love a good nostalgic deep dive, but I noticed Aussie media gets left out a bit. So I made a youtube channel, and the 1st vid is about Round the Twist, the most unhinged Aussie kid's show of all time.

Australia doesn't have the YouTube Wrapped thing yet. Which is good because I don't know if I'm prepared to be faced with the number of times I watched that 4 hour Star Wars hotel video...
FUN FACT: One of Australia’s most beloved children’s characters from the 90s is a stolen Muppet. No joke. Also, I made a video about Australia’s weirdest tv puppets. (I’m taking suggestions for part 2!) Watch here: https://t.co/cDF15nQY3J #90skid
Channel 10 spent ZERO dollars on children's drama last year. The reason we don't have another 'Round the Twist' is because networks abandoned Aussie live-action kids shows, and streaming services haven't picked up the slack.
@theprojecttv This is a funny clip, but... Round the Twist has episodes dealing with environmentalism, bullying, greed, even consent. I think they trusted kids a bit more to undersand for themselves. The same could be said for other 90s shows. But I second the request for weirder kids shows!
@ChildrensTVArch You met THE Big Ted?! That's awesome! I just looked up Peter Dasent and saw that he's credited on 890 episodes of Play School. What a legend!
@therebelroo Many of the images of fallen trees I saw were gum trees planted by footpaths. Seems like that might not be the best place for a tree with such a shallow root system... (I'm no expert though.)
I'm glad Alfred was a fizzer for much of QLD, but people are posting like all the prep was a waste/hoax. But weren't we mostly preppng for flooding and power loss? 250K homes are without power, and there's major flood warnings across SEQ, with more rain coming... #CycloneAlfred
@tobynft_ There are 200 thousand homes without power in QLD. Mostly spread from South Brisbane down to the border. At least 35k in NSW. I haven't lost power yet, but I reckon I probably will as some point.
I'm seeing a bit of confusion. Cyclone Alfred HAS NOT made landfall on the mainland yet. It's passing over Moreton and Stradbroke Islands, and will hit the mainland later this morning. #CycloneAlfred
Some advice I haven't seen posted enough:
If you have solar and your roof/panels sustain storm damage. DO NOT GET ON YOUR ROOF. Call your insurance company, they'll organise a 'make safe'.
Also, turn off your solar (PV array and mains) before the storm hits. #CycloneAlfred
My Cyclone Alfred struggles so far:
1. Trying not to eat all of my emergency cyclone snacks.
2. The radio I bought to listen to the AM emergency station is only FM.
3. We ran out of gaff tape. It's just so much better than any other tape... 😢

@thetorijensen@netflix@RobertKennedyJr The show is Australian, created by Australians, about an Australian scammer, so I doubt it has much to do with US politics. Also there's a scene in the final episode which explains the title.
According to @vulture, Aisha Dee provides the 'one American accent' in Netflix's 'Apple Cider Vinegar'. Which is weird, because no she doesn't? She used her Aussie accent. Also, a character with an American accent is introduced in the first 5 mins. Weird. #AppleCiderVinegar
You aren't imagining it, the kids section of the #carolsbycandlelight is a huge step down from what it used to be. And the reason is simple: Channel 9 isn't making kids shows any more. We had Humphrey and Hi-5, but who have they got now?
