📚 Today, CMD Kenya is convening an intergenerational dialogue on leadership in public life, bringing together young Kenyan women and experienced leaders to reflect on grit, resilience and the lessons that shape our democratic journey.
Through the #KijanaJitokezeUwajibike programme, we are creating space for young people to engage, learn and meaningfully participate in Kenya’s democratic and political processes.

✨ A conversation with the Bad Girl herself! 😏🔥
On International Day of Democracy, CMD Kenya hosted Hon. Millie Odhiambo Mabona, for an intergenerational dialogue on Leadership in Public Life: Lessons in Grit, Resilience and Realpolitik.
Through her book Rig or Be Rigged?, we explored the realities of political life and heard from Hon. Millie herself about her experiences navigating leadership as a woman in politics.📖
From the challenges of finding your voice in political spaces to the resilience it takes to remain true to your convictions, the conversation offered valuable lessons for the next generation of women leaders.
A powerful reminder that leadership is not just about holding office, but about courage, conviction and the willingness to keep showing up. 🇰🇪

✨ The Bad Girl Effect: What happens when women stop asking for permission to lead?🔥
What does it really mean to be a Bad Girl in politics?
It is the woman who refuses to shrink herself to make a room more comfortable.
The woman who can disagree without apologising for having a voice.
The woman who understands that leadership is not about being liked by everyone, but about having the courage to stand for something.
From navigating political spaces as a woman to building the confidence to challenge the status quo, yesterday’s conversation reminded us that women in leadership need more than a seat at the table. They need the courage to use their voice, the substance to back their ideas, and the resilience to keep showing up.
Because being a woman is not a campaign strategy on its own. Representation matters, but so do the ideas you bring, the problems you solve, and the difference you make in the lives of the people you seek to serve.
A Bad Girl does not wait for the room to make space. She knows how to take her place.
And when she gets there, she comes prepared. 💜

🇰🇪 From Kenya’s national interest to constitutional governance, sovereignty, development choices and youth agency, CMD-Kenya’s #KijanaJitokezeUwajibike Intergenerational Dialogue brought diverse perspectives and meaningful exchanges to the table.
With insights from Amb. Julius Okara and Awori Achoka, authors of Reclaiming Our Sovereignty, participants reflected on what national interest means to them, the importance of human capital investment and the role of young people in shaping Kenya’s future.
At CMD-Kenya, we are building spaces for intergenerational learning, informed dialogue and meaningful youth participation in Kenya’s democratic development.
A heartfelt thank you to our facilitators and all participants for enriching the conversation.
