A cricket club (Sunday friendlies only) which aims to play in the Corinthian Spirit. Yearly we tour Somerset and sometimes even manage to play games there.
We fully intend to fulfil all of our fixtures this summer, and discussions are ongoing about winter cricket and other opportunities to keep the Mount name alive. However, this will be the final season of summer cricket for Mount CC.
By announcing this now, we want to give everyone the opportunity to celebrate what has been an incredible 75 years. We want to enjoy these final games together, honour the club’s history, and make sure Mount CC goes out with a bang rather than a whimper.
The club is sad to announce the passing of David Thomas, former captain, president, tour organiser and stalwart of almost 60 years standing. He will be missed by all.
The side selected for today's match against Rayleigh Fairview at Rayleigh Town Sports and Social Club is as follows:
W. Foley (c)
I. Frankel
S. Jackson
J. Montellier
P. Offord (w)
D. Mackay
J. Lambert
P. McKeon
W. Ahmed
A. Ahmed
M. Hare
Our 2020 season finally gets under way today after the lockdown imposed for COVID-19. Not quite as we'd like though as government guidelines mean no teas and no changing facilities (amongst other things). For more details, see our dedicated COVID-19 page: https://t.co/FoTqOdYAU1
No highlights but we did manage one of our infamous collapses, losing the last 8 wickets for 40 runs (of which half came in the 8th wicket partnership) and all 10 for 97 runs.
Apologies for the radio silence but since every fixture apart from the 6-aside tournament was cancelled across July and August, there really wasn't anything to say.
Completing the catch-up…
The match against Rankins on Sunday 7th July was cancelled as they were unable to raise a side. The return fixture on August 11th is also unlikely to go ahead. It is not yet known if an alternative opposition is being sought for that date.
And now for the bad news:
Due to lack of numbers, this year's tour has had to be cancelled. The future of the tour, if any, will be discussed at the next committee meeting.

Moving on to the President's game…
This year, with both sides only having 10 players and a desire to try and give everyone a game, the skipper and the president decided that the match would be played in a terrier format.

Highlights include some atrocious fielding (which the scorer is very happy she missed), Ilan Frankel's 15th club century (and his fourth against Canewdon) and a club record fifth partnership against Canewdon of 123 between Frankel & Vijay Vayalveetill.
One again a bit of catching up is required…
The scheduled match against Brentwood Victorians (23rd June) became one against Canewdon when Brentwood couldn't raise a side and neither could Canewdon's original opposition, Rankins.
Highlights include Ilan Frankel's 14th club century (and third against Canewdon), a new club record partnership for any wicket against Canewdon of 142 by Frankel & D. Mackay, and Justin Montellier's first club five-for.
