Some first-time mothers may:
• Walk away from their newborns.
• Refuse to let them suckle.
• Fail to clean the kids after birth.
• Seem confused or stressed.
As farmers, this is where patience matters. Sometimes the mother needs gentle guidance.
A reduced appetite is often one of the earliest signs that a cow may be developing a health problem such as fever, digestive issues, mastitis, parasites, or lameness. Monitoring how much and how eagerly your cows eat each day is one of the simplest ways to catch illness early.
Today, our farm family grew by one!
Seeing a healthy mother welcome her newborn is one of the most rewarding moments in farming.
It reflects months of proper feeding, good health management, and dedicated care.
We look forward to watching this little one grow strong.
Consistent feeding practices lead to healthier animals, higher yields, and a more profitable farm.
🐄 Healthy feeding today builds a productive herd tomorrow.
Before that clean white milk hits your cup, a lot happens behind the scenes. It all starts here — with good insemination. Watch the full process here:

Last week at Mount Peter Farms was a big one.
We thought our Friesian cow was pregnant. Rectal palpation said otherwise. 😳
Meanwhile our Ayrshire heifer has already been served by AI.

@RightCohen Very true. Also constantly measuring the height ensures you know if the bananas are making progress or not. Proper records are key in any agricultural component!
It’s easy to tell when cows have started grazing, all you have to do is look at the colour of the cream. When the cows are grazing their fat turns yellow just like the yellow fat on grass fed beef. Fat from grass fed animals is higher in omega 3 fatty acids!
@SMusilakimeu 1. Work force and management. You can get everything rigjt but of you mess this up you are done.
2. Feeds
3. Good genetics. Dont just buy cows. Chase good genes.
