[THREAD] Over the summer we asked you to take action and call your legislators in support of the #WalkingWhileTrans Bill. We are thrilled to share that the bill, which was co-sponsored by our own #StatenIsland State Senator @dianesavino, was passed and signed into law yesterday.
We are disappointed that when given an opportunity to stand on the side of a more just and equitable New York, Assembly Members @MikeTannousis and @TeamReillyNY voted against the repeal and for a continuation of discrimination by our law enforcement.

@dianesavino The bill repeals a 1976 penal law statute that prohibited loitering for the purpose of prostitution but which ultimately led to decades of law enforcement disproportionately discriminating against and targeting trans people of color.
